As a professional and creative native Chinese teacher, I have over 10 years of experience showcasing skilful teaching abilities in successfully teaching Chinese to support a diverse array of students.

I Utilize Various Teaching Skills and Techniques to Address Individual Needs -

Each learner is unique and absorbs information in their own way, so I apply various teaching strategies and techniques tailored to each individual. To illustrate my approach, I categorize learners into children and adults. Children typically have a limited attention span but are drawn to games, stories, songs, and rhymes, so I incorporate interactive activities of this nature into the classroom. This approach helps words and sentences to be absorbed more easily and naturally, keeping the children fully focused and engaged. Colourful flashcards are both enjoyable and effective. After providing guidance and demonstrations, I encourage young learners to creatively construct their own phrases and simple sentences. The children enjoy this process and perform exceptionally well.

To maintain motivation and inspiration among adult learners, I encourage and support them to take charge of the class. I help them engage in various thinking and communication exercises after they've understood the theoretical information and knowledge. I deliberately guide students to use the target language by incorporating it into daily activities and familiar environments as language resources. This approach sparks curiosity, prompting learners to construct sentences that reflect real-life situations.

Three weeks later I took a Chinese proficiency test and placed at mid-novice level (the test was aimed at people who had 120+ hours learning time, I had eight hours under my belt). This permanent Monday -Friday position gave me my first experience in preparing students for GCSE, iGCSE and A-level examinations. Due to how international my school is, I teach native Chinese speakers and non-native speakers. This breadth of student-base has expanded my skills considerably. From teaching students their first lesson to analysing millennia-old Chinese literature with native-speakers, I have enjoyed this challenge. I have developed the Chinese syllabus while here, which now has curriculum classes in years 7, 8 & 9. Last year saw my first two non-native speaking students take their GCSEs; both my British and my Korean student got As, after I had taught them from beginner level, two years previously.
