I was born in Italy and have been in the UK for 30 years. I have worked and finished my studies in this country, including a BA in English & French, and an MA in Translations English/Italian. In 2001 I attended a course for Teaching a Foreign Language to Adults.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching since 2002 in Adult Education Colleges, Companies and Private Students at their homes, as a self-employed tutor and through agencies in the South East. Since 2020 I only teach online with Zoom.

I take a different approach to my tutoring depending on the individual I am working with. On my first session with my tutee I will find out the areas that they are experiencing the most difficulty in, and what their strengths and weaknesses are, as this will help me to develop an effective and helpful way of teaching. I prepare various worksheets, practice tests and activities which are interactive and will allow for valuable learning. I will ask the tutee what their preferred way of learning is and look at ways in which they successfully learn in other subjects and try to incorporate this in to my way of teaching. I encourage tutees to ask questions wherever necessary and to state if they wish me to try a different approach. My third year at University was spent abroad. I chose to teach in France for 7 months in two primary schools which I very much enjoyed. I loved to chat to the children and try to get them to see the importance of learning English. I also au-paired for three months in Italy during my Year Abroad, which involved private lessons with a 7 year old. I have also previously tutored French, which included exam preparation, focusing on problematic areas and improving confidence. I understand how difficult languages can be, I believe I can sympathise with the student. I believe languages are crucial in education. Throughout university I took part in Routes into Languages, a consortium of universities working together with schools and colleges, to enthuse and encourage people to study languages. This role involved planning taster classes for small groups, introducing a new language into their education and broadening their knowledge of the world and different cultures.
