I believe that Tutoring is first about personal connection. Having myself struggled with poor teachers, or unwieldy subject matter, I know that, with the right teachers, such areas can come alive. More clinical approaches to tutoring further separate students from the learning process. Having experienced one-to-one tuition myself, I have seen the many positives and potential pitfalls the system can bring. These experiences galvanize me and help me in my own tutoring. My approach to proof-editing / English checking is to look primarily at the language. For some clients - university students in particular - it is not appropriate to offer an editorial service as this goes against the rules of university submissions. However, where I think a mistake has been made or something is not clearly expressed - and it is not a simple matter of correcting the language - then I will flag it up to the student so they can look at it again.

My main aim with my tutees is to build their confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. To this end I concentrate on teaching the skills they require to achieve the grades they want. My role is not to replace the teaching they get at school but to compliment it so a tutoring session could concentrate on planning an essay the student has been asked to write or going through specific areas the student needs help with. I won't necessarily give homework - unless required - as I feel students have enough to do without me adding to their workload.

On the one hand, I was working as a tenured Spanish native teacher at the "IBERIS online academy" for one year. On the second hand, I was working as support Spanish native teacher at the "Gniezno Institute" during the same academical year.

In conclusión, the last 2 years from 2015 I have been working as a native Spanish teacher in 4 different places, at the University in Spain, at Christian´s academy in the USA, at IBERIS online academy and Gniezno institute (Poland). And right now, I am working privately in Scotland.

My name is Liam, I have both courtroom experience and am a PhD candidate at Aberystwyth University.

In my degree, I worked at a charity called Veterans Legal Link where I gained much of my legal experience. While at this charity we focused on providing legal support to Veterans and their families on any topic that would arise. Through both this and working at solicitors firms since then I have gained experience in both the form filling side of the law and actual courtroom advocacy.

In my degree, I scored a 2:1 and in my Master's, I scored a Distinction. I have experience teaching and tutoring and genuinely enjoy the job.

I actively lecture at my university in an assistant role and am the sole provider of Westlaw lectures at my university. (Westlaw being the database law students use at university)

Tutoring Approach:
I often find the main issue people find is getting the information committed to memory, particularly with heavy subjects like law and history. (I'll deal with politics separately) And as such I generally do presentations which focus on getting the information you need, in this respect I always try to remind people that generally the information you'll need isn't over complex,only the analysis is which should always be treated as separate. Using this method when helping others I have seen that they almost always are able to better remember the important facts they need, whether they be facts, prime ministers or types of cheese.

The second element I split lessons into becomes a lot more relevant for politics. This is analysis, the criticisms made of other ideas. This is always where the real marks are and just like my previous answer I rest on the fact that people normally only ever find things difficult when they over complicate things for themselves. My focus on analysis is making it as simple as it always is and running people through slowly how you would make your approach on the analysis. I'll never tell them how to think about something but instead how they can articulate their own thoughts.
