Having myself struggled with poor teachers, or unwieldy subject matter, I know that, with the right teachers, such areas can come alive. More clinical approaches to tutoring further separate students from the learning process. Having experienced one-to-one tuition myself, I have seen the many positives and potential pitfalls the system can bring. These experiences galvanize me and help me in my own tutoring. One of my main aims in tutoring is to stimulate an interest in learning, by making the topic as relevant in contemporary terms as possible. I am a philosophy student at Roehampton University. I am from the South Downs in Hampshire, where I lived until I was 18. I have been studying here in London since September 2017. My hobbies include playing football, listening to music, and reading. I was previously employed as an after school nanny so have a DBS check that is valid.

My name is Liam, I have both courtroom experience and am a PhD candidate at Aberystwyth University.

In my degree, I worked at a charity called Veterans Legal Link where I gained much of my legal experience. While at this charity we focused on providing legal support to Veterans and their families on any topic that would arise. Through both this and working at solicitors firms since then I have gained experience in both the form filling side of the law and actual courtroom advocacy.

In my degree, I scored a 2:1 and in my Master's, I scored a Distinction. I have experience teaching and tutoring and genuinely enjoy the job.

As a result of my teaching the debating union I am currently at has been Welsh National Champions 2 years in a row and was the opening team at the Oxford Inter Varsity tournament in 2018.

I often find the main issue people find is getting the information committed to memory, particularly with heavy subjects like law and history. (I'll deal with politics separately) And as such I generally do presentations which focus on getting the information you need, in this respect I always try to remind people that generally the information you'll need isn't over complex,only the analysis is which should always be treated as separate. Using this method when helping others I have seen that they almost always are able to better remember the important facts they need, whether they be facts, prime ministers or types of cheese.

The second element I split lessons into becomes a lot more relevant for politics. This is analysis, the criticisms made of other ideas. This is always where the real marks are and just like my previous answer I rest on the fact that people normally only ever find things difficult when they over complicate things for themselves. My focus on analysis is making it as simple as it always is and running people through slowly how you would make your approach on the analysis. I'll never tell them how to think about something but instead how they can articulate their own thoughts.

I'm a writer, composer, director and artist, and prizewinning History finalist at the University of Oxford, with experience of a broad range of learning environments and teaching styles, and substantial industry experience in music and the creative arts.
