Having completed my first degree in French and German at Oxford University in June 2013, I returned to Belfast to complete first a MA in Medieval History, and then a further MA in Translation Studies.

Every new batch of tuition starts with getting to know more about the students. It is at the same time important to give the students enough space to familiarise themselves with me. The following steps outline the process of each tuition session:

I am now in the process of completing a PhD which focuses on medieval literature and languages (including Old French). I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and subsequently gained experience as a Teacher of Spanish and French at a local authority run secondary school; now academy, in outer London. I have previously worked as a Lecturer in Spanish at Falmouth College of Arts and the Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter. I lived and worked in Paris at the Sorbonne University and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

Teaching Experience:
I am a fully qualified Teacher gaining a PGCE from Goldsmiths College, University of London. I subsequently taught at a local authority run secondary school; now academy, in outer London after having worked as a Lecturer in Spanish at Falmouth College of Arts and the Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter. I live and worked in Paris at the Sorbonne University and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). I have four recent years experience as a self-employed Tutor.

Tutoring Approach:
Enhanced by my coaching credentials, sessions are person centred and tailored to meet the needs of individual learners, their interests and requirements. Therefore, my lessons include an initial diagnostic assessment & focus on building the confidence of individual learners.

GCSE, iGCSE & A-Level students:
I am committed to supporting the individual needs of students to build their confidence and language competency. I proactively keep up to date on current pedagogy, including developments within MFL secondary education.
I ensure that I focus on the requirements of the agreed school syllabus including AQA & Edexcel/Pearson qualifications. I draw on, appropriately adapt and/or build or create appropriate resources depending on the needs of individual students. I use digital tools including Kerboodle and Wordwall. I am currently a volunteer Tutor for the Access Project.

Adults:
Tutoring includes a free initial assessment & SMART goal setting session. I take a person centred approach to coaching and include a focus on individuals' preferred ways of learning to ensure an effective and efficient language learning for adults wishing to move or holiday holiday abroad.
