I've been teaching KS2 - A levels History and Geography, Humanities and English as a Foreign Language in classroom and online settings (majority of my students are from Asia, the Middle East and Europe). I used to work in a secondary school in England and have a full DBS/ police check. I'm also a CIE History Assessment Specialist/ Assistant Examiner.

Tutoring Approach:
I enjoy teaching students of different ability levels and cultural backgrounds and take pleasure in making the subject interesting for my students. When teaching, I aim to provide a stimulating and interactive learning environment. Personal Description:
I am a qualified counsellor with a background in Psychology and I run a small private therapy practice alongside tutoring and teaching. I therefore have a lot of real life examples to use during my Psychology tutoring specifically as I am an active professional member of the mental health field. I am registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, as well as the Association of Christian Counsellors, which means I have a good working knowledge of ethics frameworks and current and up to date professional practice and code of conduct.

Outside of work, I enjoy walking, hiking, camping, listening to music, attending church and volunteering, creative projects and reading. I also like to travel, although I don't get chance to do it as much these days as I would like to!

Teaching Experience:
I spent a number of years teaching English as a foreign language overseas, in both Sri Lanka and Taiwan. I have also taught outdoor activities to groups of school children in the UK.

I encourage students to speak for up to 80% of the class, ensuring they actively practice and build their conversation skills. To make our sessions super efficient and meaningful, I ask students to prepare vocabulary on topics that matter to them before class. This preparation boosts their confidence and helps them use relevant vocabulary naturally during our conversations.

This creates a positive cycle: the more they speak, the more confident they become, which motivates them to expand their vocabulary and engage in even more conversations.
