I studied History and English at the University of Oxford (Wadham College). I graduated with Double First Class Honours in 2010, finishing top in my academic year.

I work regularly as a facilitator on specialist cultural educational projects in schools. This involves designing and delivering programmes of work and one off workshops or extended learning days for primary and secondary aged pupils, including those with complex and challenging behaviour.

After graduating, I spent a year working full-time as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school, covering classes in all subjects across the secondary curriculum, for students ranging from 11 - 16 years of age, and offering specialist teaching support for GCSE and A-Level English classes. This gave me the opportunity to observe and work with students of all abilities and learning styles, and to learn how to adapt my teaching style accordingly.

Tutoring Approach:
I am passionate about learning - and look to encourage a similar excitement in my students. In History this might be through some particularly fascinating or gruesome details, or in English, through exploring a beautiful line of poetry.

I am very individual-student orientated, so I seek always to establish each individual's aims for tutoring, and then we will work together toward these. For one student, this might be to know how to deconstruct a poem; for another, how to write a good essay.

With some students, I will plan structured lessons, whereas others prefer simply to earmark time with a dedicated tutor, before deciding what to do themselves at the time. Perhaps they will bring their homework, a study-book, or something they are stuck with - whatever the case, I aim always to listen and respond to the needs of each individual student.

With all my students (but especially the younger ones) I am a big believer in making learning FUN! I therefore often design lessons which use a variety of practical learning activities to keep them stimulated, rather than just relying on book-learning. In the past, I've mummified a teddy, conducted a press conference, and taught times-tables via Grandmother's footsteps! I find this to be particularly effective for students who struggle with concentration.

I believe that when offered education through the right methods, everyone is able to maximise their own ability to learn. Having completed a full-time degree and worked extensively in educational environments and contexts, I am equipped with plenty of different learning methods - including, through my theatrical background, more kinaesthetic or practical approaches, particularly suited to students who may struggle with 'book learning'. With my students, I look to discover which approaches work well for them, and then to use these to help them master the subject material. This in turn helps students to gain in confidence and self-motivation as they discover their own capacity to learn - and enjoy learning.

If students are working toward exams, I first seek to establish what a student feels his or her weaknesses are, and then focus tuition on areas or skills which will help them to plug the gaps or grow in strength and confidence. If more general support is needed, I will combine working with core material with a focus on ensuring that they have a solid grasp of the assessment objectives, question-types, and what the exam will look like, so that they can go into the exam confident and well-prepared. I also find that practice, practice, practice is essential, so we'll often work with past papers.

I seek always to establish clear lesson goals, and to review material learnt several times within each lesson, ensuring that the student feels comfortable with using the material learnt, rather than swamped by facts and lists.

I am an Italian engineer who lives in London. I am currently sharing my life between teaching and acting which are both my passions. I am making proper use of my solid background in engineering and my experience as a student in many different institutions around Europe by giving private tutorials to students. I am a very determined and ambitious person and I believe that many things can be achieved with strong will and the right tactics. As you can see from my CV which follows, I successfully studied in Iceland, Norway and England. I studied and worked with people from all over the world and with the most different cultural backgrounds. - In spring 2019 I attended a 3 month international advanced training course on the Lecoq pedagogy of movement theatre led by master Giovanni Fusetti in Padua, Italy, which incredibly deepened and refined my understanding of the student/teacher relation and enormously widened the ways I can adapt and carry out a class according to the personality and the needs/goals of the students. 430h of training.

- Since I moved to London I have taught Italian to many people, students, casual learners, people seeking accents reductions....from an English couple who have travelled to Italy many times, are really fond of the culture but have never got down to learning the language, to a Japanese woman who lives in the City and has working relationships with Italy. - In 2008 I worked as a teaching assistant in a kindergarten in Reykjavk for 8 months. This kindergarten had a special program of integration between kids with special needs (especially hearing impaired ones) and kids with no special requirements, which showed to be very successful. Besides assisting the teachers in taking care of the children daily, I was responsible of having a short weekly session to introduce children to English as a foreign language through playing and singing, which turned out to be very appreciated and great fun.

Teaching is, without any doubt, one of the most important jobs ever. This might sound a cliche but it is what I really think. With almost 30 years spent as a student to gain two university degrees, I have encountered teachers form all over the world and experienced the most different teaching methods. A teacher can make the difference in a persons life, in a good or in a bad way. A good teacher can be a source of inspiration and can make you love a subject that you would have never imagined you could like otherwise. I have 11 years performing experience; this combined with the inspiring training I absorbed in drama school gives me extensive knowledge and insight into my specialised area. I was also nominated for the Carleton Hobbs Radio Award, recording at the BBC. David works as a Drama Workshop Leader and Acting Coach throughout Surrey and West London.

Teaching Experience:
David has taught drama at a number of schools and part-time theatre schools, as well as having over 20 years experience of coaching pupils for LAMDA drama examinations. As a Drama Consultant, David has worked in schools both running workshops and providing training for primary school teachers on the use of drama in the classroom. He has also lectured in Drama in the further education sector. Many of David's pupils have worked professionally. I now have retired from College/Theatre schools and concentrate on one to one Private tuition at my home. I have done this for three years. I was a Youth Worker in the evenings for approximately 18 years.

In my previous school I was subject leader for drama. Writing the schemes of work for key stage 3 and 4 (GCSE). Leading the department, monitoring progess, scaffolding learning and applying independent learning plans for students to ensure that they reach their full potential.

The recent class that I taught for GCSE achieved 70% 3 levels of progress and over and 30% 2 levels of progress, beyond the national average.

Sarah began her acting career by winning a prized place with the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, receiving the Princes Trust Mercury Communication Award for her achievements. The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, being an organisation for whom she later worked in many theatre disciplines. To consolidate her talents, Drama Studio London awarded her a full acting scholarship to attend their Post Graduate Acting Course. I have just come out of fulltime education at East 15 acting school and am looking to get into teaching. Having recently done an online cause to become a member of learning support staff I have acquired a large variety of skills needed to go into education. My passion is acting and hope to continue with a full BA course in it at some point in the future. As well as acting I also have a love for English as a subject and have become an avid writer over the course of the last few months. While it has been difficult with the limitations of Covid 19 I hope to be able to support learners who have an interest in these subjects or simply need help in order to meet their goals in them.

My most recent teaching work has been in training as part of Activate learning at Reading college. These extensive online meetings have focused on equipping me with skills to deal with many different kinds of learners. My background is defined by a passionate love of drama, theatre and performing. From a young age I've participated in school plays and productions, from fashion shows to singing contests to performing in the Shakespearian School Festival.

After gaining my LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) grades and medals, alongside my mandatory studies I embarked onto University to further train in the art of acting and theory of drama.

Since then, I have worked on the set of Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Waterloo Road, Harry Hill the Movie amongst others as an extra, volunteered in schools helping with GCSE Drama Exams, helped out with school productions as well as a short stint at a casting agency - So when it comes to knowing what casting directors are looking for these days, I'm your girl!

Cut a long story short, I have now returned to my hometown of Lytham St. Annes, in my late 20's, offering private LAMDA tuition from home, and guess what, it's great! I purposely took my PreCertLAM in LAMDA, knowing full well that one day I would love to teach.

LOVELAMDA delivers one-to-one lessons in Acting, Public Speaking, Musical Theatre and Verse and Prose, from Grades 1-8 for students 8-18. For children 6-8 years LOVELAMDA offers lessons working towards introductory exams, which are a great foundation and prepare students with the essential skills required to partake in the higher-level grades.

At LOVELAMDA students get my un-divided attention. Each lesson is 45 minutes of 1-1 tutoring (this is all dependant on the grade level and may vary). This allows us to cover the syllabus, gain maximum feedback on their progress as well as allowing time for exercise outside of the LAMDA syllabus - focusing on character building, movement and stage presence, all key to building one's confidence and preparing them for the life beyond LAMDA and performance.

Our first session together (trial) will involve a short conversation with both parents and students, talking through your goals. From here we can explore and explain each syllabus (Acting, Public Speaking, Musical Theatre, and Verse and Prose) plus what's required for each to decipher what grade/syllabus we feel is best suited. All trial sessions are held online via Zoom.

LOVELAMDA suggests each student should have at least 20 guided learning hours for grades 1-5 and up to 90 learning hours for grades 6-8. Exams can be entered at any point in the year, seasonally at LAMDA's public centre in Blackpool. For example, students joining in September can expect to take exams around February, depending on ability.
