I was a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham conducting research in the field of nanotechnology.

The key is for them to understand the topic by linking to something which they previously now. This creates a connection in their brain to help them remember and understand the concept long-term. It is vital for students to truly get excited about the subject so by using real life examples, they can remember concepts more easily. I would follow the syllabus provided and teach every topic in suitable order. Then I had work through past papers and leave them papers and homework on each topic to practise. I am strong believer that education should be personalised to each individual. As a result I start all my tutoring sessions with understanding what you want to gain from this. Do you want to go over difficult concepts? Or would you rather have an outline of the techniques used to get those 7/8/9/A/A*. Through this I am able to tailor our sessions to ensure that you are getting the most out of our time. I often set short tasks to be completed outside of the sessions so that we are able to identify weak points and document the progress that is being made. All resources from tutoring sessions are kept in a shared notebook so you have access to them whenever you need them.

I am a qualified secondary science teacher who specialises in Biology. I currently work at Buxton and Leek College as Lead Lecturer for T-Level Health and BTEC Health and Social Care. I have a degree in Biology, experience working within the NHS and I am currently tutoring to students in the evenings, alongside my full time FE teaching role.
I am a very relaxed teacher, who likes to get to know my students so I can tailor a personalised approach to my lessons.

Teaching Experience:
I am a PGCE trained science teacher and I have spent 1 year teaching in a secondary school where I was able to teach all science subjects to GCSE students. I ran an after school science club to a group of students who were wanting additional support. I have spent the past 1.5 years lecturing at Buxton College to T-Level and BTEC students, teaching both Biology and Chemistry to level 3 and 4 students plus healthcare units. I have also been private tutoring for the past 10 months in the evenings.

Tutoring Approach:
I will first start by gauging my students abilities, strengths and weaknesses. I will then develop a personalised plan for each student so that we can develop areas of weakness and build upon their core strengths.
