I have been the Head of Accounting since 2006, at a large Catholic Sixth Form College in Hulme, Manchester. I am 46 years old, living in Didsbury, South Manchester. A computer science graduate and former software engineer that got out of the 'rat-race' in 2001 to develop my own coaching business. When students have specialist teacher(s) at school, college or university the usual way of progressing is for them to work on one or substantial pieces of work. I am trying to improve my French with Duo Lingo - an on-line resource learning platform. I am also going to learn some Arabic so that I can impress my son-in-law who is from Syria.

Teaching Experience:
My teaching experience has been gained in a wide range of educational establishments, in the UK and overseas. I taught in an international boarding school for many years and taught students for whom English was their second language. I taught business related subjects in the Middle East in the training department of a multi-national oil company. Prior to this I worked in schools and colleges in Wales and England.

More recently, I have been tutoring economics and business on-line, using a variety of platforms including Zoom and MS Teams

Tutoring Approach:
At our first meeting, I will assess your strengths and weaknesses so that I can draw up an individual learning plan for you. The first 15 minutes are free.

I find that most students are capable of learning the content of the GCSE or A level syllabus, can remember the main concepts, but struggle to write a coherent A grade essay. If this is your weakness, then I will focus on developing your essay writing skills and I have lots of resources which I use to do this.
I understand that some of the economics and business concepts can be quite complex and some of the diagrams challenging, so I will be very patient with you and will make sure you fully understand every topic in the syllabus. I will stretch and challenge you to make sure that you stay at the top of your game and I will use materials appropriate to your ability.

My main objective is to help students gain confidence and instil in them a 'can do' attitude. This is something that I believe I am good at. I get great job satisfaction when I see my students develop self-confidence and reach their full potential. Economics can be fun and I will always try to make your lesson as interesting, relevant and fun as possible. I look forward to meeting you.

I have experience of working in one of the big 4 Accounting firms as well as industry as a qualified Accountant. Tutoring comes natural to me,with years of experience under my belt .
