I graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc in Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry in 2003 and a year later completed my post graduate certificate in Education at the same university. I have been tutoring children for the past 2 years in person, from year 3 to year 9. I support the students in maths, english and science. I support them with questions that they struggle with and believe in taking an individualized approach, so that the needs of individual students are met. I often mark practice papers and questions that they do and also set them with additional questions that I create so that they have a variety of resources to practice what they are learning. I liaise with parents to address their concerns while still treating the student's confidentiality with utmost respect. I also spend time supporting fellow peers with aiding their understanding of recently taught topics. Tutoring has given me many other transferable skills, it made me much more adaptable as I had to take on different styles of teaching based on age, and how they like to learn. It also helped to develop organizational and time management skills. My tutoring experiences have enabled me to become skilled at capturing the attention of students for periods of time, in order to explain concepts to them. I have done summer schools from University of Leeds, and Hull York Medical School and I have also done an online UCAT course with the university of Sheffield and so I am familiar with a few universities and would be able to offer support individualized to the university of Sheffield and Hull York Medical School. I also occasionally teach Sunday School at my church, I have done this both in person and online and so I am comfortable teaching children of a range of ages. I am also able to read and give guidance on personal statements as I have read personal statements for my friends and I have also received support for my own personal statement from other sand so I am able to give good support in that area as well.

Tutoring Approach:
I believe that tutoring should be individualized to the needs of individual students and so I do not take a blanket approach with tutoring and I prefer to discuss with my students to arrange a plan of support ideal to them. What I usually do is working 1 topic behind what they do at school and consolidating exam technique on those topics and revising them together or another way to is teach ahead of the syllabus so when they cover it in school it will be like revision for the student. I usually explain topics using diagrams and examples and by teaching handy mnemonics to aid retention and recollection.

Hi!

I am a second year Cambridge Medical Student with a history of achieving strong academic results, having secured a First Class in my most recent examinations.

Over the years I have been able to hone the skills necessary to perform well in exams, targeting my responses to what examiners are looking for and I am looking forward to being able to share these essential tools to my tutees.

I enjoy playing the piano and clarinet and I am an avid runner. I also enjoy a bit of rugby from time to time!

Teaching Experience:
I have over 7 years of tutoring experience with excellent results. I have seen significant improvement in the confidence and ability of my tutees to perform well under exam pressures. Many of my students have gone on to achieve A's and A*s in their public examinations - a testament to the effectiveness of my tutoring approach.

Tutoring Approach:
I am strong believer that education should be personalised to each individual. As a result I start all my tutoring sessions with understanding what you want to gain from this. Do you want to go over difficult concepts? Or would you rather have an outline of the techniques used to get those 7/8/9/A/A*. Through this I am able to tailor our sessions to ensure that you are getting the most out of our time. I often set short tasks to be completed outside of the sessions so that we are able to identify weak points and document the progress that is being made. All resources from tutoring sessions are kept in a shared notebook so you have access to them whenever you need them.

Hi, my name is Maahi, and I am currently a student at St Dominic's 6th form, studying Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at a level. I received an outstanding set of GCSE grades and my set of results was even published in the school newspaper. I like helping younger students in any way possible, in year 10, I helped those who have come from foreign countries or have a lower reading level and have difficulty reading to become fluent readers through a 'reading buddies' programme. That was when I realised that I am good at teaching and helping students. After that I tutored the younger children in family and friends and helped them get amazing grades for SAT'S and gcse's and I want to extend this to everyone that wants to receive good grades and achieve their dreams. So now, i want to put my knowledge to some use- hence why i am here.

Teaching Experience:
I received 5 grade-8's in my Gcse's this year, including Biology, Chemistry, physics, maths, english literature, and 4 grade-7's in french, history, further maths, english language. My revision techniques are clearly effective and want to help students who want to learn and set their goals in life. I can also help with giving advice for a levels as I am currently studying biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at a level myself. There are multiple different ways to learn and I can help find the right way to learn for you. After having tutored many of my friends and family in the younger years, I realised that I have a passion for teaching as I can make even the most mediocre thing interesting and understandable. I am open to teaching online virtually, so you don't even have to travel anywhere- all at a reasonable price! Each lesson will be approximately an hour long, whenever at your convenience as long as I can find time on my schedule as well to teach.
