Hello,
I have completed my PhD in Creative and Critical Writing at UEA. I also have an MA (Distinction) in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway, and a First Class Honours Degree in English Literature. I also have a good Fine Art degree from Chelsea College of Art and Design. I have been a private tutor for twenty years, and have taught many children in that time.

I am currently tutoring in Wadebridge in Cornwall but can offer Skype or Zoom lessons.

I'm 49, married and am an aunt and godmother.

Teaching Experience:
I have taught at undergraduate level at university as well as writing skills in an academic skills centre. I have also taught SATs to thirteen year olds. I have a PTTLs degree level 4 qualification and taught on an Access Course to adult learners.

I have taught AQA and EDEXCEL syllabuses at GCSE and AQA at A-Level.

Please note that I do not teach any Eleven-Plus or verbal reasoning syllabuses and that I prefer to teach older children (13 plus)

Tutoring Approach:
I use past exam papers, model essays, and devote time and attention to close reading of set texts at GCSE and A-Level. I have also given art lessons.

I can also provide Skype and Zoom lessons and find this has been successful with older and university level students.

A big part of my inspiration comes from the natural surroundings and through my travels. The main topic that I approach it is landscape, in all moods and mysteries. Through my art I would like to share with you different states of nature.The composition is balanced by the characters you always find in nature: different species of trees, wild animals and their world. The diversity of materials that I use helps me to create in the smallest details, impressions created about the natural world and our experiences with it.

I primarily teach young people preparing for art portfolio presentations and university entrance exams. I make a policy to teach from life using the traditional teaching methods and techniques of the great masters from the Italian Renaissance as this is how I was educated. I teach my students to understand and use perspective, relationships, contrasts and composition. I teach any level of art student following an initial portfolio review. This portfolio review helps me see previous drawings students have done which helps me understand how to construct our lessons in order to achieve success.

As a youngster I always enjoyed art and sold my first paintings in my early teens. I then trained and studied the history of art at Maidstone College of Art and at The University of Wales.

After a career in graphic design & communications I re-started my career as an artist in 2014. I have been a member of various art groups for several years and I have been fortunate to win awards at local art exhibitions.

I paint landscapes and figurative subjects in a suggestive and vibrant style, and draw inspiration from mood and atmosphere in the world around me. I exhibit and sell locally and my work is gaining in popularity in local galleries. I also run workshops.

Hello! I am a recently graduated Illustrator with a first class honours from Grays School Of Art, with experience of working both freelance and with companies at a professional level. Ive always been really passionate and enthusiastic about art with a focus on work that tells a story, which is what drew me towards studying illustration. Ive worked with a range of ages right the way through from early high school to portfolio preparation and being a graduate myself i understand what is required for university level portfolios as well as high school examination boards. I work as an Associate Lecturer on the BA Painting Programme at Camberwell College of Arts (University of the Arts London), as a mentor on the Turps Painting Programme and was invited to be a Visiting Artist at Goldsmiths for 2023, and again for 2024. I am also a Dissertation Supervisor for Final Year students at Camberwell on their BA Programme. My specialism is Art History, however I have extensive knowledge of a wide variety of subjects and my tutees have all immensely improved their grades (often by multiple grade bands) and have been very happy with their results.

I also teach writing for a wide variety of audiences. I have experience writing reviews of exhibitions for Mousse magazine and an in conversation series with key artistic figures, including Turner Prize winner Mark Leckey, Markus Lüpertz, Leidy Churchman and Chris Martin. In 2019 my writing won the a-n arts prize and I took part in a series of workshops facilitated by prominent writers and editors, such as the Editor of Frieze magazine.
