My name is Irina but in the artist's world, I am known as an artist Irisha.
I have been drawing and painting professionally for 14 years. Most of the time I am creating my paintings with pastels and throughout my carrier as an artist, I learned quite a lot about this medium and how to use it to achieve the desired results. A friendly and relaxed approach looking to ensure that you have an understanding of fundamentals and help to create a portfolio or to complete course/school work to a standard that is both professional but also reflects your interests and gives you a folio of work you're really happy with. While the fundamentals are obviously important im far more interested in helping to cultivate interest and enthusiasm rather than tutoring in a very dry archaic manner. For this reason as well as traditional mediums i also cover using digital ones such as the adobe suite.

Personal Description:
My classes will focus on drawing and painting, and the use of sketchbooks that will provide you with the fundamentals of a portfolio for application to college or art school. I graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2000 and have taught there as well as at other colleges, schools and museums. The sketchbook should be a journal of your ideas and thoughts. It's not something for finished works. It's your space to experiment, to discover, but also to fail and make mistakes.

I also offer general drawing and painting classes that can be adapted to suit your passions and interests. Any questions, please get in touch. Overall, I believe that art should be challenging but fun and deeply rewarding.

Teaching Experience:
I have been a visiting lecturer at Glasgow School of Art and at various schools and colleges across Scotland on a freelance basis. I have taught art in secondary and primary education and even had the best day making portraits with kids in a local nursery.

Tutoring Approach:
To me, art is about discovery. It is about challenging yourself to try new things and see where it leads. It is a discipline that requires skill, but it can also be about complete freedom. It is important to find a balance between them.

I have been teaching English as a foreign language for over twenty years in the UK, Turkey and Japan.
I am passionate about the subject and like to let students take things at their own pace.
I do conversation and grammar correction. I have taught IELTS writing. I hold a Diploma in EFL. I am also qualified in art and have taught artist`s skills to foreign language students who are interested.

I am located in the Beckenham area and within 5 minutes walk from two train stations: Kent House and New Beckenham.

Over 20 years in UK, Japan and Turkey. I have worked for 4 schools that were all British council approved.

I am an established artist in water colour and sketching with a portfolio of over 600 completed works.
