I am a qualified secondary science teacher, and I have also tutored a wide range of subjects privately over the past 15 years (mainly sciences, maths and English).

I specialize in online teaching methods, including training other teachers internationally. I have degrees in science, education, creative writing, and linguistics.

Tutoring Approach:
My approach is supportive and low-key. I think that students have to have time to explore their interests in the subject by asking their own questions. This is an important part of reflective learning and will help build and maintain enthusiasm, and a calm and supportive atmosphere is essential for this.

I make extensive use of past exam questions; the best way to do well in exams is to practise doing exams! This also allows realistic monitoring of performance as tutoring continues. I normally email exam questions for students to attempt before the tutoring session.

I am 60 years old, originally from a business and finance background, and retrained as a teacher from 2008/9, completing a PGCE. I am QTLS qualified and a member of the Tutors' Association which promotes professional standards in the tutoring industry.
I operate as a freelance/private tutor specialising in mathematics and have experience in teaching all ages from primary up to GCSE. I also have several years' experience teaching basic numeracy and literacy to adults.

Teaching Experience:
From 2007-2009 I worked as a volunteer/trainee teacher for a further education college and from 2009-2012 was employed as a basic skills tutor travelling throughout East Anglia teaching adult numeracy and literacy in the workplace. After finishing my A level in Weymouth, Dorset, I then went to Essex University in Colchester to study Science. Ater getting my first degree, I then decided to do a masters Degree in Chemistry and passed. In my University days, I have always loved Maths and Science and in my first year at University, I did Physics, Chemistry and Maths. I have a very high understanding of Maths because of my passion for Maths and I have solve several problems in Maths, Physics and Chemistry up to A level. I am very passionate about numbers and anything that has numbers in it, I will solve. My chemical knowledge is absolutely unbelievable. I actually started teaching as soon as I left University in 1993. In those days, I did not have teaching qualification. I then decided to get some experience outside education. My tutoring style is quite unique. Being a school teacher myself, I now understand why it is so difficult for students to understand the subjects that I teach. I am a experienced fully qualified further and higher education lecturer, and have previously within my career been a Senior University Lecturer and Course Leader in textile design and costume design .I completed B.A (Hons) Fashion Textile degree from Central St Martins School of Art London and a went on to further study a Masters Degree in Fashion /Textile at the University of Central England Birmingham.

¡Hola! I am Alba. I was born in the south of Spain and have lived there for the majority of my life. I did Spanish Studies as a degree in Huelva (near Seville), and later enrolled in an MA for Spanish Teaching as a Foreign Language in my home town, Granada. I then moved to the UK to work as an Assistant Teacher of Spanish in London, which led me to taking the PGCE course and acquiring Qualified Teacher Status. I am currently a teacher of Spanish at Secondary level in inner Birmingham.

Back in Spain I used to teach in an independent school in Ronda (Málaga), where we offered from one-to-one lessons to small classes of beginners to advanced level, and I absolutely loved it. In my experience, my students thrive in a more personalised environment of their choosing.

Gaining deep understanding of the underlying physical and/or mathematical concepts, is key to tackling higher level questions. By doing this I aim to minimize that amount which you're required to memorize before an exam. I think that learning a subject by rigorous memorization is mind numbingly dull and is the best way to kill a passion.

Many people will not fulfil their potential due to fear of asking questions which they perceive as 'stupid'. I encourage you to ask me ridiculous and stupid questions.

A level exam boards have a tendency to ask very similar questions and even repeat exam questions from year to year. We will therefore spend lots of time looking at exam questions and the way in which they're marked to maximise the marks you can pick up.
