Hello, I am a lecturer, writer and tutor based in Bristol. I enjoy working with students from many backgrounds and countries.

I currently work part-time in two Universities, and have been teaching for nearly ten years. I can help you revise for exams, with assignments and dissertations.

I like tutoring as I get to speak to interesting people who face a variety of academic challenges. In the past I have helped people online and over the phone, through Skype and face to face meetings.

Teaching Experience:
Before teaching I worked in publishing and journalism. I have written a book called 'How to work as a freelance journalist' and I used to manage a magazine so also have lots of practical business experience too.

I teach journalism, business and employability. Mostly tutees I meet want help with specific things such as revising for exams or completing a difficult assignment. Often it is a case of working together to help improve your grades and reach deadlines.

I have taught students from all over the world including China, Malaysia and Qatar. I enjoy meeting new people and am keen to make sure that you get what you want from tutoring.

I am currently studying for a Diploma in CPLHE (Certificate in Professional Learning and Higher Education).

Tutoring Approach:
Through this site I have worked with students to complete assignments, dissertation proposals, catch up on missed work, or understand academic ideas that they were struggling with.

I have also worked with many students via email and telephone. This means that you can tackle a little bit at a time, and save yourself money.

I am an Open University graduate with a 2.1 Honours degree in Computing, Science, and Mathematics. I have taught Computer Aided Design and Engineering Mathematics at my local college. I take great pride in my work and offer friendly, relaxed and professional tuition on a one to one basis in my own home or the tutee's home residence. I have been teaching for over 10 years now, both in local colleges and in pupil's private residences. I have experience of teaching pupils of all ages as well as pupils with SEN including dyslexia and dyspraxia. I have extensive experience of teaching 8-19-year-olds as well as teaching the older generation. During my tutoring sessions, I make every effort to ensure the learning experience is both an enjoyable and interesting one. I use a variety of learning resources and tutoring methods to introduce a varied and innovative approach to the session. I always engage with the pupil and listen carefully to every one of their responses. I take the pupil through a carefully formulated learning program which is compiled from a detailed assessment of their tuition requirements; this is always discussed with the parent/guardian before the program commences, to ensure that they are happy with the arrangements. I am a very friendly and relaxed individual and I like to convey these feelings during my tutoring sessions and always try to make the pupil feel comfortable with the whole learning process and ensure I work at their pace at all times.

I have been studying Spanish, French and Italian for many years and have gained numerous qualifications. Living in several European countries has also enabled me to develop my language skills to the extent that I am now confident in my ability to teach these languages to others.

I am currently studying for a TEFL course to update my teaching skills.

Teaching Experience:
I am approaching the end of my first year of language tutoring and have enjoyed the experience. I look forward to continuing my tutoring through UK tutors as well as other bodies. My name is Laura and I am a native French teacher from Harrow, North London. I relished learning languages at school because I was taught by inspiring teachers and that is why I decided to make it my profession. I am very hard working, never afraid of a challenge and always happy to be teaching. Moreover I am organised, punctual and reliable and very enthusiastic with a fun and approachable manner. I have been teaching French for over 25 years to all ages and all academic levels. Throughout my time as a teacher, I have worked and still do for several nurseries schools, set up my own business offering after school clubs, had a great deal of private lessons from primary school children to GCSE and A Level students and most recently have started conversation lessons for adults.

From my years of experience, I can see how general teaching in schools doesn't always work, as every child is different. This is why I offer a bespoke service to cater to the child's needs.
