Personal Description:
My name is Margo and I'm 44 years old. I am a high school French and Spanish teacher. I am also an avid cyclist and in 2011 fulfilled my lifelong dream of cycling round the world. My 27,000 km, New Zealand to Scotland trip took 2 years to complete and was the best experience of my life so far. As for other interests, I am a keen mountain biker and take part in the Scottish cross country championships every year.

Teaching Experience:

Before leaving the UK in 2009, I had been working as a French tutor for almost 7 years. Much of my work came from tuition agencies, with whom I taught students up to University level. I taught French to adult learners at the Glasgow College of Commerce in 2007 and pre 5's in several nursery schools around Glasgow from 2004 to 2009. I studied French and German at the University of Glasgow and finished my degree in 2001. I have lived in France for several years and worked as an English assistant in a French school. I also worked as a nanny in the French Alps for a year and ran a ski chalet, again in the French Alps.

In 2015, I returned to university to undertake the PGDE course, which would qualify me as a secondary school French teacher. I also studied a Spanish degree at the University of Strathclyde whilst working full time and finished this in 2019. I am qualified to teach Spanish but French is, by far, my main language.

For the last 8 years, I have had excellent Nat 5, Higher and Advanced Higher results in classes for which I have had sole responsibility.

Tutoring Approach:

Whether you are a parent looking to give their child a head start in foreign language learning, a Nat 5, Higher or Advanced Higher student struggling with exam practice or just an adult looking to learn a new skill, I am here to help. I am a highly skilled teacher and have helped many pupils achieve SQA exam success.

Personal Description:
Highly experienced, engaging teacher with 26 years experience in teaching. Proven academic success in Sociology, Psychology and Health and Social Care. All reviews are rated 5* via a different website. My success rate this year, 2019, has been a 100%. With students achieving either grade A / A*, or increasing their re-sit / predicted grade by 2 grades. Year on year, success rates have been consistently 100%; with all students securing their grade for their university of choice.

Innovative teacher with 26 years experience in teaching Sociology, Psychology and Health and Social Care. After being a Department Head for 10 years, I went back into main classroom teaching after my son was born and to concentrate on developing educational success for all students, by offering alternative forms of support for students when needed.

I have a track record of success with undergraduate support. Tutees increase either their final degree classification, or are able to progress onto the next level of study, if they were referred. I provide support, direction and academic and academic sign posts of where and how to improve through extending the breadth and depth of essay writing and dissertation work.

I am a qualified Coach, Counsellor and NLP Practitioner. I can therefore provide support for students with anxiety and exam stress; if required. I use Neuro Linguistic Programming techniques (NLP )and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy(CBT) to help young people cope with everyday challenges and the challenges of study. I am qualified to do so.

P.G.C.E Further Education
2:1 B/A Honours in Organisation Studies/Social Science
Life Coach Level 4 Diploma (Degree Level)
Counselling Level Level 4 Diploma (Degree Level)
Advanced PractitionerQualification in Neuro Linguistic Programming

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Sociology and Health and Social Care since 1993 and introduced GNVQ BTEC programmes in Health and Social Care in different sixth form colleges and have led and managed Sociology departments. I have the expertise required to ensure academic success for all tutees; regardless of the exam board or level.
At have experience in delivering Sociology at GCSE Level and A Level, Psychology at A Level, and Health and Social Care, at BTEC Levels 2 and 3.

I scaled back my departmental roles to focus on more holistic training and approaches to education.

I am a Sociology Examiner with AQA.

I have a variety of experience in supporting undergraduates in raising their degree classification. ( See Section above)

In addition to my role in education, I have 14 years experience of pastoral work with students; coaching clients/students and 5 years experience of practicing NLP and CBT. The strategies I use can help overcome stress and anxiety, which I incorporate during the sessions.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach is flexible; all learners have different needs and learn in different ways. I contact my tutee beforehand, to find out as much as I can about the ways they like to learn, this enables me to plan and prepare sessions so the tutee gets the most out of the time we have together. Homework is set and thorough assessment and feedback form an integral part of the tutoring sessions.

As a highly skilled and experienced teacher in Sociology and Health and Social Care, I am able to help the tutee master those tricky areas that may take more time to get to grips with. These areas are usually on specific topic areas or skills that relate to how to answer exam questions. These skills are vital for exam success. Also a qualified and experienced life coach, I often combine coaching and NLP strategies within the context of academic support; to ensure that motivation never wavers and exam stress, panic and anxiety is dramatically reduced.

Personal Description:
I am a passionate Second Year Economics student at King's College London, and have scored a First Class in all my mathematics-related modules (including Advanced Maths for Economists and Statistics for Economists). Prior to university education, I achieved A* in every Maths and Further Maths Papers (for Further Maths: Pure Core 1, Pure Core 2, Further Statistics, Further Mechanics, and Further Additional Pure). I have a huge love for maths and what it can teach you - it's not just all numbers! It has many applications to real life and is so rewarding when you get it right. I believe any maths can really help you to develop your resilience, analytical thinking, and creativity: there are often so many ways to approach problems! As an extra-curricular alongside my course, I take Spanish, studying at roughly C1/C2 standard. Aside from academics, I particularly enjoy running, biking, and swimming in my free time, as well as playing the piano.

Teaching Experience:

I have been tutoring throughout my undergraduate degree course at university, spanning GCSE Foundation and Higher Tier, GCSE Further Maths, and A-Levels. This has successfully culminated in improving grades of my students, for example from C to A at A Level. I have mentored students at GCSE Maths level during my time in Sixth-Form at secondary school, as a way to give back to the community. Furthermore, I have been volunteering for over 6 months as a GCSE Foundation Maths Curriculum Administrator at an organisation promoting increased opportunity for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. This involves developing KS4 lesson plans, reviewing and improving existing lesson plans, and marking exam papers. I am excited to develop new teaching strategies that I have learnt work best for me over the years, but I will always prioritise the student's understanding first. If it doesn't quite click using one way of explaining - don't worry! We will explore new and different ways to approach the question.

Tutoring Approach:

I love personalising my lessons to the student's wants and needs, with a special emphasis on encouraging confidence in students. Never be scared to ask a question and have a go, and trust your instincts too! I teach the key theories behind questions which allows you to add new ways to approach unseen questions using your whole arsenal of weapons you subsequently have at your disposal. I use a combination of teaching by examples, as well as setting independent practice questions which we can go through if there are any difficulties.

Personal Description:
I am a passionate and adaptable tutor with over four years of experience delivering high-impact, personalized online instruction in mathematics, science, and engineering. My academic foundation in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, combined with practical teaching experience at both college and university-preparatory levels, allows me to bridge theory and application in a way that is both engaging and accessible.

My strength lies in making complex topics digestible. I use digital tools like GeoGebra, Microsoft Whiteboard, and Python-based simulations to bring mathematical and scientific principles to life. I believe in learning through doing-whether it's solving real-world equations or visualising physics phenomena through interactive simulations.

Outside of formal teaching, I've worked on projects involving solar energy optimization and shear behavior in materials, which gives me a unique perspective when helping students connect textbook content to real-world innovation. I take pride in mentoring students, not just academically but also in building confidence and curiosity in STEM.

I'm also highly organized and value clear communication. I tailor each lesson based on student goals and learning styles, constantly adapting my methods to ensure progress and clarity. Whether I'm preparing a learner for exams or helping them build foundational skills, I aim to foster not just understanding but also enthusiasm for the subject.

Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching since 2021 as an online tutor, working with secondary, GCSE, and college-level students in mathematics, physics, and engineering topics. In addition to freelance tutoring, I've held academic roles at Oaklands College and Coventry College, where I taught Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mathematics. Most recently, I served as a Design and Technology Lecturer at Hull College.

Across all roles, I've designed and delivered comprehensive lesson plans, created digital learning materials, and led sessions that range from individual tutoring to classroom lectures. I'm adept at using both synchronous and asynchronous teaching methods, ensuring flexibility in my delivery. My sessions often involve a mix of visual demonstrations, real-world problem-solving, and interactive whiteboarding to engage learners and reinforce concepts.

In these roles, I've also supported exam preparation, conducted assessments, and provided feedback that helps students track their progress. Many of my students have shown marked improvement not just in grades but in their self-confidence and independent thinking.

My exposure to a wide range of learners-from high-performing students to those needing additional support-has helped me develop a highly inclusive, student-centered approach. I'm experienced in adapting materials for learners with varied needs, and I use learning analytics to tailor my sessions and ensure measurable progress.

Tutoring Approach:

My tutoring philosophy is centered on clarity, curiosity, and confidence. I aim to break down complex ideas into understandable, relatable chunks using analogies, visual tools, and real-life applications. Whether it's using GeoGebra to demonstrate calculus concepts or guiding students through design cycles in product development, my approach is practical, visual, and adaptive.

I always start with a diagnostic understanding of the student's current knowledge and learning goals. Based on that, I create tailored lesson plans that align with their school curriculum or personal development targets. I use formative assessments regularly to measure understanding and adjust my pace and content accordingly.

Interactive teaching is key to my sessions-I encourage students to ask questions, explore problems from different angles, and reflect on their learning. I use tools such as screen sharing, digital annotations, coding platforms, and video resources to create dynamic, multi-sensory learning environments.

In addition to academic mastery, I focus on building students' confidence and problem-solving skills. I create a supportive space where mistakes are seen as part of the learning process. For students preparing for exams, I provide strategic revision techniques, timed practice, and feedback loops that promote independent study habits.

Above all, I'm passionate about helping learners see the value and beauty in science and mathematics, and I'm committed to helping them grow not just as students-but as thinkers and innovators.
