Personal Description:
I have over 15 years of teaching and tutoring experience in both university modules and A-levels for all major exam boards, specializing in computer science, programming, mathematics, and economics. This extensive experience includes both in-person and online teaching, encompassing one-on-one tutoring as well as small group sessions.
Throughout my career, I have maintained high success rates, and tutoring is my passion. My teaching approach is individualized, as I believe every student has a unique learning style. I adapt my methods to ensure the learning process is efficient and engaging for each student. Many of my students have secured places at Oxbridge and other top universities in the UK.
Over the years, I have accumulated and developed a substantial collection of learning materials and exercises in the aforementioned subjects. I share these resources with my students to help them master the material and excel in their exams. Many of these materials and exercises have been custom-developed by me to provide individualized support whenever the available textbooks and standard exercises are insufficient. Additionally, I regularly administer written tests to identify gaps and areas for improvement, which also help students prepare more effectively for their exams.
As a tutor, I am motivated, friendly, patient, and open-minded. My strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills allow me to connect with my students and help them overcome challenges. My lessons are organized in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Instead of simply reiterating textbook content or going over available exercises, I focus on explaining and emphasizing core concepts, identifying any gaps or misconceptions the student may have. I create an interactive environment where students can develop their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Furthermore, I teach my students strategies for solving problems quickly, which is crucial in time-constrained exams. I also guide them in selecting the most appropriate methods and techniques for different problems, enabling them to perform well by quickly addressing the core of each problem without wasting time on less effective approaches.
Overall, my approach to working with a student is as follows: First, I consider the specifications provided by the exam board for the specific subject or module. Next, I discuss with the students/parents to identify any special needs, requirements, and preferences that need to be taken into account. Together, we develop a suitable teaching plan and identify appropriate teaching and learning resources. This teaching plan typically includes regular homework exercises for the student to study independently between tutoring sessions, reinforcing the knowledge and skills acquired during our time together. This approach makes the tutoring sessions much more effective, allowing us to focus specifically on the student's needs rather than spending time on concepts they can understand independently through textbooks or worked examples. I always aim to provide the best value for money, ensuring that even a limited or infrequent number of sessions can significantly improve the student's understanding of the subject and their performance in exams. However, I also ensure availability for as many sessions as needed, with many students opting for several sessions per week or even daily sessions when exam dates are approaching.
Teaching Experience:
My educational background includes undergraduate and PhD degrees in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras (Greece). I have worked as a postdoctoral researcher at prestigious universities such as Cambridge, Surrey, and Essex. Additionally, I hold a teaching qualification for Higher Education from the University of York. I have also taught undergraduate and postgraduate modules at the Universities of York, Warwick, and London in the aforementioned areas.
I have over ten years of experience working on industry- and government-funded R&D projects related to next-generation computing and Internet technologies, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. This experience has provided me with invaluable insights into advanced computing systems and electronics, novel techniques for computer networking and communications, as well as practical skills and knowledge in protecting systems and networks from cybersecurity threats. Furthermore, I have acquired strong programming skills across a wide range of programming languages and mathematical modeling techniques.
Tutoring Approach:
Currently, in addition to tutoring A-level and university students, I also deliver specialized training programs and masterclasses to professionals in organizations worldwide. I assist university graduates in preparing for industry-required professional certificates. Additionally, I provide consultancy services to both start-ups and established companies within my areas of expertise.
Feel free to reach out to me to discuss your requirements. I am eager to help and support students in achieving their goals. Before booking any lessons via the system, please make sure to contact me first, as my availability shown on the system may not always be up to date.

Personal Description:
With over 10 years education experience, I have taught in a variety of schools up to and including A Level computer science. Based in Leeds, I have led multiple subject areas with highly successful student outcomes. Since April 2019, I have had the privilege of leading Secondary Computing Education for the National Centre for Computing, across England.
Since starting my teaching career in 2012, I have been Curriculum Leader of a mixture of subjects including Computer Science, ICT, Business and Health & Social Care. Under my leadership, GCSE Computing results in 2017 were among the highest performing in Leeds and in the top 8% of the UK (BCS / Roehampton Computing Report, 2018).
From 2017 - 2019 I led a school-centred teacher training programme for secondary computing teachers in Leeds, this involved training the next generation of computing teachers and supporting them throughout their teacher training year.
I joined the National Centre for Computing Education as the Secondary Education Lead in April 2019, leading secondary teacher training to upskill computing teachers across England, ensuring the next generation of students receive a world class computing education.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught in schools in Leeds since 2012, my first teaching role included the introduction and leadership of GCSE Computing, the first cohort to complete this GCSE were one of the highest performing cohorts in Leeds and within the top 8% of schools across the country (Source: BCS, Roehampton Computing Report, 2018). This role also included the delivery of OCR Cambridge Nationals in ICT and iMedia - 100% of students achieved a level 2 qualification.
My second school involved me expanding my leadership to lead computing, computer science, business and health and social care. Results in this school increased rapidly, upon my arrival only 8% of students studying towards the ICT CiDA qualification had achieved a grade A*-C on their examined unit, under my leadership this rose to 76% within 9 weeks and to 100% at the end of the qualification. Student progress measures showed students achieved +2.7 grades higher compared to similar students across the country (GCSE results, 2019). Likewise, significant improvements were made in computer science, results also rose from 36% grade 9-4 to 98% grade 9-4 within one year, student progress measures showed students performed +1.9 grades higher compared to similar students across the country (GCSE results, 2019).
Between 2017 & 2019, I led a school-centred initial teacher training (SCITT) programme for secondary computing teachers in Leeds, this involved training the next generation of computing teachers and supporting them throughout their teacher training year. This process also included running a subject knowledge enhancement programme and running several 'Computing Subject Days' to develop pedagogical understanding in the subject.
In April 2019, I joined the National Centre for Computing Education, a new initiative, funded by the Department For Education, introduced in 2019 to support teachers with subject knowledge and the confidence to teach computing. I currently lead the secondary computing education strategy, leading on secondary teacher training, Isaac Computer Science, quality assurance, teacher residentials and more.
I am currently Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for Isaac Computer Science.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe in using a variety of teaching methods to suit the needs of the student to ensure each individual person can succeed. I believe that all students deserve to achieve and that is accomplished through a variety of styles alongside regular monitoring and assessment but also through a positive, professional manner.

Personal Description:
Hi, I am a 2nd year medical student at the University of Manchester. I have a range of interests, of course including sciences and medicine, but also in music and history. I achieved top A level and GCSE results, and am passionate about passing my learning onto others. I am looking for students aged 11+ and have evening and weekend availability.
Teaching Experience:
I have extensive experience leading groups of a range of ages in a school environment as well as working with individuals to help them achieve their goals and further their skills in their area of interest. I have been tutoring for two years now, having started in my gap year, and I have thoroughly enjoyed helping pupils significantly increase their grades. My most recent GCSE students increased their science grades from 4s to 8s in around a year of tutoring. I also volunteer at a secondary school orchestra, working with players who are struggling, which often involves explaining concepts and recommending the most efficient practice methods, in a very similar way to when helping in an academic situation.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is tailored around the goals of each individual, which I will assess in the first session. For GCSE and A level students I commonly use exam questions to work on exam technique and assess the student's understanding of a subject area. For all levels I will explain any challenging topics and provide activities to consolidate this learning, should that be required. I can also help students go over worksheets completed in class or as homework to ensure they have the maximum understanding of the current topic.

Qualified Art teacher, ex Head of Art and practicing artist, writer and illustrator. Supportive, friendly, encouraging approach balanced by a rigorous and thorough commitment to helping you achieve your best and meet your objectives, whether they are GCSE/A Level requirements or your own personal goals.
Do you need an Art Tutor to get you through your GCSE or A Level coursework and exams? Or are you a beginner who wants to learn to draw and paint? Perhaps you need someone to help boost your confidence, or would like a mentor who can support you to develop your skills and ideas?
I`m a former Head of Art Department with over ten years teaching experience in a large comprehensive school, who has now worked for over ten years with two of the major UK exam boards as a GCSE Art moderator. I have a first class degree in both Art and English, and an MA (distinction) in illustration. I also work as a tutor for adult learners at The Royal West Academy in Bristol and offer workshops to communities around South Glos.
I can offer:
Private tuition to help you or your child improve their GCSE and A Level coursework, and raise their grade.
Help developing a portfolio for Art college and university applications and interviews.
Support with your child's primary, KS3, GCSE and A level Art coursework.
Fun, stimulating Private Art Classes after school or at weekends for individuals or small groups of children or adults, for enjoyment and personal & creative development. At your home or mine.
I can teach watercolour, acrylics and oils, all forms of painting and drawing, along with mixed media, printmaking, batik and textiles, craft and 3D design, graphics, illustration, ceramics and more.
About me:
In 2014 I completed an MA in "Authorial Illustration" (with Distinction) at the University of Falmouth. Prior to that I worked as Head of Art at Didcot Girls` School in Oxfordshire for 9 years, before moving South towards Bristol where I began working as a tutor at the Royal West Academy in Bristol amongst other things. I have now just moved West to the Stroud area and am looking for new students and opportunities to share my passion for painting and all things creative. I have an up to date criminal record (DBS) check and I work as a GCSE Art exam moderator every summer so I`m very familiar with the latest requirements from the exam boards and course curricula. I am also an artist, selling paintings locally through various galleries, a writer and the illustrator of several published books. I`m the author of two books: `Soul Color, a ten week course on watercolour painting to cultivate creativity and mindfulness`, and `Earth Color, an eight week art course for nature connection`. Both are published by Liminal 11 in the UK and Sterling/un ion Square & Co. in the USA & Canada. I have a First Class degree in English and Fine Art from Exeter University.
I look forward to working with you and can be flexible about how, when and where we work together, according to your needs. I have a car and can travel to you if you are in the Nailsworth/Stroud area, or you can come to me. I may also be able to meet you in Bristol on certain days.
Below you can find some testimonials from former tutees.
Good luck with your search,
Emma
Testimonials:
Emma has been my art tutor for the past year. During this time she has nurtured my fragile confidence and enabled it to evolve into my own artistic voice, allowing me to find my full expression whilst also helping me to stay grounded in basic technique and method. Throughout this time she has been patient, kind and encouraging. She has overseen my transition from drawing to working with colour/paints and clearly has a great depth of experience and knowledge in the use of both. Emma has challenged me where I`ve needed it but has always remained supportive when I found myself frustrated with my own abilities. She has been very helpful in developing my sense of experimentation whilst at the same time continually suggesting other artists that I might learn from. Emma has always been happy to answer my constant questions and we have had many inspiring discussions about art, artists and the artistic process. At the end of the year i felt i had enough confidence to apply for a BA in Art, much of this attributable to Emma`s support. I would therefore highly recommend her as a private tutor.
Mr. Andrew Moon, Falmouth (adult learner)
I really enjoyed learning from Emma. She is gentle and patient in her teaching approach and very encouraging. She taught me important foundation principles and techniques which helped me develop my skills and enabled me to better address some of the technical elements of painting and drawing. She has a wonderful way of working and relating to colour which I found really inspiring. She has also helped me feel more confident in my own work and creativity. I would highly recommend her as a teacher.
Charlotte Johnstone, Totnes (adult learner)
Emma has been tutoring my 11 year old daughter for a little while now. She has a lovely gentle manner and is clearly a very talented artist herself. My daughter regularly asks me when she will have another lesson with Emma, which can only be testament to what a great teacher she is!

Throughout college I helped and supported my fellow peers with maths and geography during lunch drop-in hours. In university I undertook the role of being president of the Civil Engineering Society where I led other students and publically spoke. Aside from academic tutoring, I have twice been a summer camp councellor for people aged 9-16 where I taught sports and outdoor adventure related activities.
Tutoring Approach:
I aim to tutor from an equal level, rather than simply talking at students, I have always preferred to make teaching into a conversation where it's imperative that the student feels listened to and acknowledged. I understand that every brain works differently so novel approaches must be tried to find out what works for each specific student. I would only ever set light homework simply because I feel that it is useful for reinforcing what has been taught between lessons. Additionally, I am happy to provide additional support to any Tutees on writing of personal statements for university, and advice on courses/university options, and any other topics! I'd rather provide holistic support, avoiding siloed and narrow approaches to teaching.
