I am a fluent native Spanish and French Lecturer. I have a UK teaching and lecturing diploma with an extensive practice in the UK as well. I give Spanish and French linguistic lectures, Culture and Diversity immersion programs. My academic formation is Anthropology and Linguistic as well as Historian. I am also certified in forensic court translation (3 languages) and I have worked frequently in this area. Largely, this will depend on what the student is hoping to achieve. I appreciate that, most often, a student's aim is to achieve a certain grade in an exam. In these cases, I will spend a lot of time working with the student to familiarise them not only with the material for the exam, but with the format of the exam paper, exploring how to approach different types of question and working directly with mark schemes to best understand how credit is awarded.

I am, however, passionate about my subject, and aim to uncover some enthusiasm for the sciences with all my students, through engaging sessions in which we can explore topics in perhaps more detail than is often possible within schools.

Marhaba! My name is Ali and I have been teaching Arabic for many years. I moved to Bristol a few years ago and I absolutely love the city and its free-spirited culture. When I came to the UK twenty five years ago, I didn't speak a single word of English. This personal experience allows me to empathise and understand what it feels like to learn a new language from scratch.

I hold two master's degrees: an MA in Linguistics-Based Translation and an MA in International Education, both of which inform my approach to language teaching. Additionally, I have a Celta from the University of Bristol.

I am a native speaker and I have been teaching Arabic for many years. I have taught university students, GCSE and A Level students as well as adult learners.

Currently, I work as an Arabic Assessment Specialist at the International Baccalaureate (IB). In this role, I'm responsible for Arabic assessments in the Diploma Programme (DP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), covering both Language Acquisition and Language and Literature. Regarding what I am able to teach -
I currently am offering 11 plus tutoring as well as A Level Mathematics.
I offer C1, C2, C3, C4, S1 and S2 Mathematics modules, across all boards, as well as Biology A level topics, also across all boards. The exam board I took my own exams in was OCR MEI (for Mathematics) and OCR A for Biology.

I am aware the A Level syllabus has now changed from modular to linear, and have tutored a Year 12 student doing Mathematics under the new course. The content is very similar to previous years - it is just the style of the exam that has changed!

Teaching Experience:
I have taken on a number of leadership roles, both in school and in my freetime. I ran House Art, an intraschool competition, during Year 13, and held the rank of Corporal for the last few years of my time as a cadet as part of St John Ambulance.

Prior to going to university, I tutored two students in A level Mathematics (EdExcel and MEI OCR), who both achieved Bs, and one student in A level Biology (who achieved an A). While I have been in Cardiff, I have also been tutoring two students in A level Mathematics (both Edexcel).

Tutored online for 4 years and tutored with Explore Learning for 1 year in person and online both. I tutored GCSE to a level maths and Physics.

Tutoring Approach:
Initial lesson for mathematics involves an assessment - this can be through a past exam paper. This allows me to determine what level the student is working at currently and also what topics need to be focused on more than others. From this I pick a topic to base the next lesson on. The lesson compromises of exam questions and taught material.

For physics I ask the student which exam board they are studying and which topic to focus on for the first session. I then plan a lesson on the topic by doing a question-answer session (It will be like recapping then topic with the student through questions used to prompt their memory). Normally questions are in flash card form. Then for the second half of the session I do exam questions from the exam board the student told me. These are topic based so each lesson will have questions focused on what was covered on the day. I send the notes from the lessons to the student as pdf files too. I write reports after I complete a lesson so parents know what the lesson covered and what to expect for upcoming sessions too. The more fluent a student becomes in answering questions- that shows progress is being made.
