I am married with three grown up children, several chickens and a dog.
I am a regular churchgoer, a supporter of Newcastle United (I know...) and a friendly and outgoing person.
I drive my fully restored Morris Minor whenever I can, leaving the modern car for my wife and daughter. Apart from that I am quite normal!

Teaching Experience:
I am an experienced teacher of RE at secondary level, being Head of RE and SMSC at a local non selective school. As such I am well used to teaching and supporting students of all abilities and with all kinds of needs and baggage.
In addition to teaching I mark GCSE papers for the AQA exam board which gives me a significant insight into examination requirements and technique. My latest school results were an almost 25% A* to A pass rate from a non selective cohort of over 200 students.
Before entering the teaching profession I spent 20 years in Christian youth ministry, which does not colour my tutoring, but does give me a uniquely thorough knowledge of Christianity in particular.

I am relaxed and friendly, able to get alongside even the most reluctant of students and persuade them to learn.

Half French/half Scottish, I was born and brought up in France to Scottish parents. I am now based in London, but Paris is still home for me. Studying French and Spanish at University College London gave me the incredible opportunity to live in Madrid for a year, where I became fluent in Spanish. I then went on to train as an actor at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Acting and tutoring aside, I am an avid theatre-goer, film buff, food-lover and I love travelling, whenever the opportunity arises.

As an experienced Trilingual French and Spanish tutor; I come highly recommended (references on request), produce great results (Level 9 at GCSE), and hold a valid CRB certificate. OK, so I'll tell you a little about myself… My name is Aman. I am a qualified EFL/ESL teacher and I have been working abroad for the last 16 years in different countries from Thailand to Dubai.

For the last 5 years I was working with the British Council as an academic manager in Qatar. Here I was managing educational programmes and a team of teachers, which I loved! I provided training for teachers and worked on curriculum development.

When I am not working, I love movies, music, socialising and meeting new people and learning about new cultures! I am also a big coffee drinker.

I have over 15 years experience teaching English as a foreign language.

I have taught students of all levels from beginner to advanced and have worked with students from all over the world helping them to improve and develop their general English language skills - reading, writing, listening and speaking by designing lessons to bring out their full potential.

In addition to teaching general English, my ELT specialism for my Cambridge DELTA was Exam Preparation Classes. Therefore, I have solid experience and knowledge of helping learners prepare for the IELTS exam and get the band they want by focusing on the strategies needed in each module. Although, the heading states 'Approach to Tutoring', I look at it as 'Our Approach to Learning'.

Together, we will look at YOUR English language goals, and the best way to achieve them, as every learner has different needs.

Lessons are learner-centred, that means I do not teach in a 'lecture' style, but provide opportunities for you to produce and practise language and then look at ways to further develop and improve that language. It is important for me that you feel comfortable and relaxed in these sessions. Lessons should be enjoyable and engaging for you (and me!).

There is error correction throughout lessons, but this is where you will self-correct with my guidance making you more aware of which areas need more focus.

Depending on your level, I use a range of materials from coursebooks, internet, newspapers, magazines to podcasts and videos.

I will give you regular homework, which will help to reinforce what you have learnt and give you more independence in using English. My aim is for you to feel more confident in any situation where you have to use English.

My name is Ellie and I'm a History graduate. I have been teaching English as a second language in Suzhou, China for the last year. I am experienced in teaching particularly Chinese students, using IPA with a focus on oral speaking. I have a TEFL in China certificate and an International Child Protection Certificate. Teaching Experience:
I taught ESL at a school in Ghana for one month. For the past year I have been teaching a wide range of ages and levels in Suzhou, China. I completed 2 weeks on intensive teacher training in Beijing where I sat classroom-based and paper-based exams and received a TEFL in China certificate. Since then I have taught grade-8 students at two middle schools in Suzhou. I also tutored one-to-one and small groups of adults, teenagers and children. I performed demonstration lessons in classrooms with children I had never taught before and had numerous classroom assessments. In September I will be going to teach at Suzhou International Foreign Language School.

I firmly believe that the majority of teachers and schools/colleges do their best to help their students. However, many students have weaknesses especially in their written work. To gain high grades students need to be able to analyse, apply and evaluate their knowledge but those skills are often not developed by their school or college. I'm Kirsty, I love teaching as I believe my passion for my subject helps ignite curiosity in young people of where we see maths in everyday life and how it affects their lives. Spotting patterns and being able to problem solve in every job and career path comes from great mathematical analytic skills!

I love when students get the 'lightbulb' moment; the understanding kicks in and we get the solution to the problem we are working on. Endorphins rushing when we feel a sense of achievement. I want to help break the barriers of 'I'm not good at maths' and change mindsets to 'I'm not good at maths, yet'. Optimism and a positive mindset can really change outcomes, both with maths questions and life in general.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teacher for the past 10 years in a secondary school in Billingham. I have taught throughout key stage 3 and 4, from year 7 through to year 11. I have designed schemes of learning and the resources to go along with that to enable students to have interactive but thoughtful, ordered maths lessons with key concepts covered and checking for understanding throughout.

Recently I completed the National Professional Qualification in Leading Teacher Development (NPQLTD) which has enabled me to break down components of learning - for people of all ages and abilities - and ensure the best progress is made through the correct understanding and structuring of learning modules.

Since 2018 I have worked for exam boards Edexcel and OCR marking a mixture of higher and foundation papers, so I have a good understanding of how examiners apply the mark scheme and the experience to teach tips and techniques to ensure exam success. Not that exams are everything, but they are a necessity to further your academic career, so understanding how to do them well is key to showcasing your knowledge!

I have tutored privately 1:1 for the past 7 years, working with a mixture of ks3 students, as well as ks4 in examination prep at both higher and foundation level. Everyone I worked with got the required confidence or grade that they needed to move onto the next stage of their learning journey - excellent!

Tutoring Approach:
I love a mixture of tasks to break up the monotony of 'a worksheet of questions' which might be some peoples' experience of maths lessons. Maths is not boring; I want to share my love of it with people!

I like interactivity - be it using mini whiteboards, card sorts, tarsias etc. - as well as ensuring key concepts are covered with GCSE style questions so our skills match up and link to what examiners might ask.

Using physical manipulatives to introduce concepts which leads to understanding at an abstract level helps solidify knowledge and fluency of skill.

If one strategy does not work, I have a range of other ways to aid understanding - one size does not fit all with maths and there are often more ways than one to find a solution. Let's explore our reasoning together and develop a solid mathematical understanding and hopefully build your confidence at the same time!
