Personal Description:
I am a qualified teacher with 2 children. I've been teaching for over 20 years at a variety of schools within Hampshire and across the primary phase. I tutor mainly Maths and English and over the past 7 years I have successfully tutored children through their SAT's exams.
In addition to this I have been teaching adults at a local college since 2016. I teach Functional Skills Maths and English, conquering fears and supporting students to reach their potential. Daytime adult tuition is also available.
Teaching Experience:
I have a B'Ed (Hons) specialising in Religious and Theological studies and through my teaching career I have specialised in DT, Music and RE. I have knowledge of current teaching methods from Reception up to Year 6.
Having also taught adults for the past few years I have developed more teaching skills to break down the barriers to learning.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that everyone has their own way of learning and once this is known they can go far. Learning should be fun and relevant. Confidence is often a barrier to success. Improve confidence and success will follow.

Tutoring Approach:
My training revolves around clarification, scepticism and individuality. All training is time managed to ensure the student gets the most out of their lessons. We begin with a clear set objective and make sure the student has in mind the goal of every exercise undertaken. Rather than teach a list of techniques, I actively engage all students to get the most out of their individual strengths and I encourage them to look critically at what will work best for them. I promote a self-coaching concept for more efficient skill retention.
I have fully tailored programmes for online tuition via Skype or Zoom. I have my own custom-built gym for personal training.

Personal Description:
I am a retired police officer who has retrained as an EFL teacher. My main interests are my rescue dog, swimming, music, reading, cinema, concerts and travel. As a person I am empathic, patient and kind. I am interested in current affairs both in the UK and worldwide.
Teaching Experience:
During my career I spent 5 years teaching IT in industry. As a police officer I spent 7 years in the Training Department teaching IT as well as Communications Skills, First Aid, Law and Force Policy.
Since retiring I have passed a CELTA course and have taught English in Vietnam for 3 months and Mexico for 4 months as well as a short contract in a high school in Austria. In the UK I have taught at a residential Easter School and two residential Summer Schools, teaching children and adults of all ages and from beginner to advanced level. During 2021 I volunteered teaching online for my previous employer in Vietnam as they were in lockdown for a considerable time and value having a native English speaker working with them.
Tutoring Approach:
I apply to tutoring the same skills that I have used during my extensive time as a trainer - I motivate by encouragement, patience and praise, and use a teaching approach that will suit the learning style of my student. I also enforce strict deadlines and standards in order to maximise the learner's gain from the teaching time and to ensure that they use their study time wisely and efficiently. My attitude towards learners is that the only silly question is the one which they want to ask but don't, and that if they do not understand something then it requires me to explain it in a different way. I believe that if a learner enjoys their study they will gain a lot more from it, so endeavour to make lessons and tasks interesting and relevant.

Personal Description:
Hi there,
My name is Vera. I am a native speaker of German, a fully qualified teacher and 37 years old. I have a B.A. in German and English and an A-level in French. My exam results are 100% pass rate at A-level for the past nine years and 100% pass rate with students achieving 9 - 7 (A* - A) grades at GSCE level.
I have been living in England for 15 years now, I think I am a good humoured and honest person and I love teaching people languages.
Teaching Experience:
I qualified as a teacher with a starred first at Southampton University and worked in a secondary school until deciding to work as a private tutor only.
For more than 10 years now I have been teaching in schools or privately as well as working in translations, it is huge fun and I enjoy working with different people.
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to assess the needs of the tutee and plan lessons accordingly. I think it is very important to know the grammar and vocabulary of a language in order to speak it fluently.
Please note, prices are correct for when you come to my house/online tuition. If you would like to meet somewhere or at your house, I charge £5 extra for petrol money and driving time within reasonable driving distance.

Personal Description:
I am a successful local tutor and teacher with an MA in Education from Oxford Brookes University (2016), a Postgraduate Diploma in English and Language in Education from the University of Reading (2012). I also have a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Secondary - English) from Oxford Brookes University (2007) and a BA Hons in English Literature (2006) as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Children's Literature (2024). I am passionate about my subject and enthusiastic about improving both my pedagogical and subject knowledge. With A Level clients, I often re-read the key exam texts and exam specifications in order to deliver a successful tutorial. For GCSE, I am confident with multiple exam boards but, again, I take a sincere interest in changes to qualifications and specifications. I have recently led a team of ten teachers in our delivery of the GCSE English qualification through WJEC. Part of my role included observing good teaching practice and documenting this for staff appraisals.
Teaching Experience:
I have recent experience as a Senior Leader in Reading (2024) and I have also been employed as a Specialist English Teacher based in the Learning Support Department of an independent senior boys school in Maidenhead. I have also taught a range of vocational students for both Activate Learning (2013-2016) and The Windsor Forest Colleges Group (2018-2019). I was employed as a Head of English for a small multi academy trust partnered with Upton Court Grammar School (2019-2021) and I have also taught in a range of comprehensive co-educational secondary schools across Reading Borough Council (2007-2009), Wokingham Borough Council (2009-2012) and Bracknell Forest Council (2016-2018). In addition, I have previously worked as a Learning Support Assistant, at a Catholic primary school in Reading. I have also taught American children how to use movie editing packages, such as iMovie, in Maine, USA.
Tutoring Approach:
The rapport with the parent is as just as important as the tutee. In order to make a success of the tuition, it's paramount to have a good professional relationship with both. I use feedback from the tutee's parent (via a school report) and informal feedback from the tutee to create an Individual Tuition Plan which includes setting three clear targets. Depending on the key stage and ability of the tutee, this can range anything from parenthetic comma use to translating Chaucerian poetry!

Personal Description:
I currently work as a Senior Global Project Manager for a clinical research company. Since graduating in 2015, I have worked in clinical research, progressing my career in Project Management.
Teaching Experience:
I have been tutoring for the last 5 years from ages 6-16
Tutoring Approach:
My approach is flexible depending on the students needs. I would initially want to understand what areas the focus would be, where I would then plan lessons and ensure there is mutual understanding. I believe it is important to encourage the student with the belief that they can overcome what they feel like they dont understand and be successful

Personal Description:
My name is Jeannie, and I'm thrilled to introduce myself as a tutor specializing in math and computer science subjects. I am a fresh System Engineering graduate from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
As an engineering major, I possess a strong foundation in mathematical principles and computational concepts. I am well-versed in various branches of mathematics, including algebra, calculus, discrete mathematics, and statistics. Additionally, my expertise in computer science extends to programming languages, data structures, algorithms, software development, and more.
Teaching Experience:
I tutored primary to GCSE level student's Mathematics in my undergraduate years part-time.
Tutoring Approach:
1. Assessment and Goal Setting:
- Begin by assessing the student's current knowledge and understanding of the subject.
- Have an open conversation with the student and their parents to understand their goals and expectations from the tutoring sessions.
2. Individualized Lesson Plan:
- Based on the assessment and the student's goals, create a customized lesson plan that covers the necessary topics and skills.
- Break down the lessons into manageable units, ensuring a logical progression from foundational concepts to more advanced ones.
3. Clear Learning Objectives:
- Clearly communicate the learning objectives to the student at the beginning of each session.
- Ensure that the objectives are measurable and specific. For example, "By the end of this session, the student will be able to solve quadratic equations using the quadratic formula."
4. Engaging Teaching Methods:
- Encourage student participation and active engagement during the sessions. Ask questions, initiate discussions, and provide opportunities for the student to apply their knowledge and problem-solving skills.
- Assign regular practice exercises and homework to reinforce the concepts learned during the tutoring sessions.
- Provide constructive feedback on the student's work, highlighting areas of improvement and acknowledging their progress.
- Incorporate regular review sessions to revisit previously covered material and ensure long-term retention.
5. Progress Monitoring and Adjustments:
- Regularly assess the student's progress through quizzes, tests, or periodic evaluations. Use this information to identify areas that require further focus and to track overall improvement.
- Continuously adapt the tutoring plan based on the student's progress and feedback. If certain methods or approaches are not effective, be flexible and explore alternative strategies to ensure optimal learning.

Personal Description:
Hello! I'm Kallia, an experienced, qualified teacher. I mainly teach English and support students of ages 4-18, in a variety of skills such as reading, writing, comprehension and exam practice.
I am currently in training to become a dyslexia teacher and hopefully progress into becoming a dyslexia assessor.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught in inner city schools since 2016, when I qualified. Previously I used to work as a teaching assistant rural and city schools, starting in 2013.
My teaching experience comes from teaching across primary full time, working as a reading and numeracy support teacher with SEN children of ages 8-14 and teaching English GCSE, iGCSE and IELTS to students in the UK as well as across Asia and Europe.
Tutoring Approach:
My teaching approaches depend on the needs and goals of my students. Not one approach fits all and therefore communication is key in establishing good working patterns that will support the student in progressing and succeeding.
I have the tools to adjust my lessons to meet the criteria for those with Special Education Needs.

Personal Description:
I have been working in the pharmaceutical industry for 2 years in process control and regulatory affairs. In these roles, I have written scientific summaries for public dissemination, including industry guidance and legal representations submitted to court. Additionally, I have responded directly to inquiries from members of the public, effectively communicating complex ideas in clear, accessible language. I have strong IT skills and the ability to plan and prioritise tasks.
I have a comprehensive academic background in biological sciences, holding both a BSc and an MSc in the subject area. I have always studied in the UK and I have two siblings, one younger and one older, who have done the same. This has allowed me to observe the evolution of the national curriculum over the years and stay well-acquainted with it. I also believe my solid subject knowledge makes me capable of working to any changes. I am passionate about education and fostering a love for learning in students.
Outside of science, I have rather varied interests and hobbies. I enjoy keeping fit and go rock climbing regularly with friends. I am also an experienced traveller and have visited over a dozen countries across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. My enjoyment of these and so many other different activities enables me to find commonalities with an array of individuals, which fosters connectivity, a skill I think serves me well as a teacher/tutor.
Teaching Experience:
I worked as an EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teacher with children aged 7-15 for 1 year in South Korea. I also have previous experience as a Young Leader with Girlguides aged 10-14 for ~3 years and as a Playworker at my local primary school for 1 year.
I have seen first-hand the difference I can make working as a teacher and experienced the pure fulfilment that comes from watching my students grow and develop. In the year I spent working full-time as an English teacher for elementary-middle school children in South Korea, I was responsible for developing syllabi, designing and delivering lessons, creating new learning materials, grading coursework, and ensuring the welfare of pupils. This role developed my ability to communicate and connect with children and young adults, taking the time to understand each one in order to adapt to their specific needs and effectively motivate them through challenging tasks.
Tutoring Approach:
I strive to create a supportive and approachable learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and seeking help. My confident yet friendly and adaptable nature allows me to build strong relationships with students, earning their respect while ensuring they never feel intimidated.
I recognise that every student is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, and learning styles. Because of this, I take the time to understand each student individually, tailoring my teaching approach to suit their specific needs. Whether that means adjusting the pace of a lesson, using different explanations, or incorporating more interactive elements, I am committed to ensuring that every student has the best possible opportunity to grasp new concepts and progress.
I remain calm and solution-focused when faced with challenges, whether managing student behaviour or handling unexpected technical difficulties. I view each lesson as an opportunity to grow, both for my students and myself, and I continuously reflect on ways to improve my teaching approach.
