I specialise in preparing students for GCSE chemistry exams and A-level chemistry exams. Until January 2011, I was a Science Teacher at Plymstock School in Plymouth where I had been the Head of Chemistry for 10 years. Previously I had worked at Kelly College Independent School as a Chemistry Teacher and the Head of Lower School Science. Since January 2011, I have been self employed as both a Professional Tutor and also a Professional Drummer! I love both aspects of my self-employment and look forward to helping many more students achieve exam success.

Teaching Experience:
Chris has been teaching and tutoring A-level chemistry since 1994 and as an ex-Head of Chemistry who has worked in both state schools and private schools, he has helped countless students achieve the high grades they often need for university entrance. Many of my ex-students have gone on to vet school, medical school and Ox-bridge.

Tutoring Approach:
CHEMISTRY
I use revision notes and PowerPoints to aid understanding but try to focus the learning around past paper questions and answers as much as possible.
I have handwritten answers to AQA, OCR-A and OCR-Salters past papers which are scanned in to the computer for projection onto a smart board.
I offer individual tuition on a 1:1 basis and also small tutorials of between 2 to 3 students, who are in the same year group and following the same specification… often friends.

I am a french native speaker, teaching french. I am a very enthusiastic person who love contact with people and I enjoy teaching my language to others. I also speak Spanish.

Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching for 21 years in an independent school and I am also a Team Leader and examiner for Edexcel Pearson and AQA exam boards. I am checking , marking and assessing exams at GCSE level and I teach at all levels. As well as teaching my classes on site, I do teach my lessons via video conferencing using zoom, Skype or Teams, the delivery of the lessons online are as good as being in a classroom. Dedicated IT professional with over 20 years experience. I have a wide variety of computing skills and knowledge across a variety of subjects. I currently work in the web sector providing consultancy, design, development and support services to clients, friends and family.

I live in High Wycombe but am happy to travel to anybody's house to allow tutoring to take place in a comfortable setting.

Teaching Experience:
I run my own IT consultancy business and have trained individuals with basic computing skills. At my day job, I train clients on a 1:1 basis and in large groups of up to 20 people on technology such as editing websites, graphics and making use of social media.

Tutoring Approach:
The approach I take is to let the client explain what they would like to achieve from the training requested. I then discuss the relevant experience they might have and document this to ensure progress can be measured and whether the training is progressing at the right level and speed.

Periodic verbal or practical reviews help to ensure the client is getting value out of the training.

I've over 13 years teaching experience. I teach KS3, GCSE & A level students. I'm currently working in tuition centre and also doing private tutoring.
I've BEng (Hons) in electrical & electronic engineering degree from London South Bank University.

I was a good science student. My favourite subjects are always Maths, Science, Physics, Computer/IT. I always achieved 95% + mark in math since my school term to Degree level. I also always got good marks in Physics and computing.

I love to teach student who is interested learning. I know the trick to let enjoy learning to make sure my student is enjoying learning and understanding what i'm trying to teach.

I am widely travelled, articulate and have been described as charismatic and engaging with a good sense of humour. I come from a family that is passionate about sport and I have also served as Trustee of a well-known children's charity.

I have selectively tutored children and young adults on a 1:1 basis both face-to-face and more recently via Zoom/Teams/Skype in Mathematics and Science. I still own and serve as a director of a financial services company and I am therefore only able to tutor a small number of students in any given academic year. Tutoring takes place either in the student's own home if you are in the Lichfield area, or alternatively online using Google Classroom and Google Meet. This is a reliable platform which enables parents/carers to access materials and work done on a 'teacher' basis so that you can monitor work being completed, and which also allows the student to build up a successive range of work done and materials accessed as the weeks progress.

I work closely with parents/carers as well as the student to assess any immediate needs that the student has in their English studies. I have liaised with school teachers at parent/carer request to gain a clear insight into areas that school teachers believe would benefit from additional input. This means that the tuition I provide can support targeted areas that need further development and help each student fulfil their potential. If short-term tuition is requested, I will put together a brief plan for you to consider and address any key areas that are needed in a logical and structured way so that you can be assured tuition is going to be suitable for your child's needs.

All materials, whether face to face or online, are prepared in advance and are produced to support achievement in English. After each tuition session, feedback is provided to parents/carers either verbally if the session is face to face, or via email/conversation online if the session is remotely delivered.
