I have been a loyal student to BCU, where I obtained, both my Fine Art degree and my MA in Art and Education Practice. Planning for my PhD research study too. I became a practicing artist and researcher in the subject of Britishness and modern values since 2003. Working from my studio as well as researching . I am interested in culture diversity and community. I am quite focused on research and combining my work with strong evidence. Supporting others too is a great passion for me. I always been involved in teaching both Arabic and art. I am an artist-teacher whose passion lies within nature and its use as a subject within art education. Exploring themes of organic matter, leaning towards natural history and science, I have a keen interest in the philosophy of Wabi-sabi and creating symmetrical imagery using objects that may be deemed imperfect, worthless or unattractive.

I studied Illustration at University and specialise in bookmaking, screen printing onto textiles and observational drawing.

Recently I have had an artist book on display at the Turner Contemporary in Margate, images displayed in CRATE, participated in projects with Dover Arts Development and had my work displayed alongside my students at the Sidney Cooper Gallery in Canterbury. I enjoy making work and encourage my students to relish in the activity of creating.

I have spent seven years working within education, two of which were spent working within two SEND schools. I am an Art and Design Teacher at secondary level and have had experience working with two amazing Art Departments within mainstream education. My students come from a range of backgrounds and nationalities from Birmingham to Beijing, mostly through personal referrals. I teach Maths and English to children aged 4 to 14 and adults wishing to learn basic skills. I have eleven years of experience as a class teacher in English primary schools, including five years in a private school. I have taught in all year groups in KS1 and KS2 in mainstream, private schools and special educational schools, where I also taught KS3 classes.

I began private tuition ten years ago, one-to-one and small groups, and have taught children from Italy and Beijing to speak, understand, read and write English as their second language. I also coached pupils to prepare them for their international Key English Tests (Cambridge curriculum).

I teach children according to their specific needs, especially those that need a boost in basic skills to keep up with the curriculum for their year group, but I have also helped Year 4, 5 and 6 pupils to prepare for 11+ examinations.

My lessons are tailored to the needs of each student. We work together to identify areas which require support and I teach accordingly. As a basic resource, I use workbooks to identify areas of difficulty, then teach in depth using my own examples and explanations. I keep explanations light and include games to keep those with shorter attention spans occupied. Online, we use an interactive whiteboard to share homework, pdfs, and powerpoints. My lessons use verbal and visual explanations alongside examples to practise in order to cater for all learning styles.

I am an experienced and now retired teacher who moved back to my home in Chichester a few years ago having spent the previous 11 years teaching in an IAPS school in Nairobi, Kenya. I am married, and live in Gloucestershire with our two Chocolate Labradors. Prior to teaching, I worked in advertising and then recruitment for 10 years. I have been teaching for the greater part of twenty years.
I am an avid reader, and keen amateur actor.

I have worked in education since 2003, initially in the primary sector and since 2007 in secondary. My approach is open and relatively informal. I feel that tutoring works best when a relationship is established between myself and the student - they should feel free to ask questions, raise issues, and discuss any aspect of the work that interests them. It's very different to being taught in the classroom: in addition to individual attention, it also offers the opportunity to read and study texts not on the curriculum which can augment and strengthen the school syllabus. English is essentially a skills based subject. Although there is a lot of content to learn at both GCSE and A level, students benefit from being able to access and flexibly use the techniques needed to study and criticize. Reading, debating, and discussing a variety of texts enables the student to develop and apply these skills in lessons and exams.

Tuition is available in English Language and Literature for all secondary years, including GCSE resits. I can also tutor pupils preparing for the 11+, and scholarship entry in Year 7 or Year 9. Tutoring sessions are specifically geared to the student's individual needs, and may include functional literacy, close discussion of a set text, exam revision, and past papers. I have 6 years of experience supporting people with serious mental health disorders in both in-patient and in the community. I have worked in schools with children with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
