Georgia - Leicester tutor

Information About Georgia:

Personal Description:

I am a PhD student at the university of Leeds (School of Music). I did my Masters degree in Music Performance (Singing) also at the Leeds uni, and my Bachelor in Musicology at the university of Athens (Greece). I am currently a piano teacher at the Music School of Peiraias (Athens) with a permanent position, and I am studying in UK with a sabbatical from the Greek Ministry of Education.

Teaching Experience:

I have many years of experience in various conservatoires in Greece (I am teaching since 1996). Right after my graduation (2000) I started working in Music Schools, teaching piano, music theory, choral singing and solo singing. At the same time, I continued to teach piano, choral singing and chamber music in conservatoires, and give private tuition as a piano and singing teacher, as well as a piano accompanist. In 2002 I took a permanent position as a piano teacher in Music Schools after the relevant Greek Ministry of Education's teaching competition.

Tutoring Approach:

I would say that my approach differs from student to student, because I'm always trying to discover his/her personal potentials and, most importantly, make him/her capable of listening to himself/herself and correcting his /her own mistakes. I believe that the key to a successful music teaching is to find the balance between detailed studying and the ability to enjoy your playing/singing.
