Personal Description:
I am a friendly and very experienced teacher who has worked in both the secondary sector and higher education. I am currently teaching full-time at a highly regarded boys' independent school. I have a very good rapport with my students and am skilled at providing lucid and accessible explanations of complex subject material. I currently teach English Literature and English Language at GCSE, IGCSE, AS/A2, in addition to examining AS/A2.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching for sixteen years and have worked in the state and private sectors. Schools I have worked at include Rugby School, Haberdashers' Aske's, University College School and City of London School for Girls. I currently teach at City of London School for Boys. Previously, I was a part-time lecturer at Warwick University, with a special interest in Shakespeare. I have been an A level examiner for OCR for eleven years and a private tutor for the same length of time. My success rate is excellent.
Tutoring Approach:
My chief aim is to empower the student, encouraging enthusiasm for the subject and helping them to feel more confident in their abilities. Tutorials should be as interactive as possible and prove a positive and enjoyable learning experience. I am friendly and engaging, and remain in touch with a number of my pupils long after I have finished teaching them.
