Jonathan - Cambridge tutor
Information About Jonathan:
Personal Description:
I am a local teacher with a passion for raising standards among young people. I am originally from Northern Ireland but moved to Cambridge four years ago to complete my Post Graduate Certificate in Education at the Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge (2006). I developed my understanding of pupils' learning further by doing a Masters in Education also through the University of Cambridge (2007).
Teaching Experience:
I am Head of Religious Studies, Citizenship and Critical Thinking at Linton Village College where I have gained an excellent insight into both the best methods of learning as well as the precise requirements of the exam boards. I have taught Religious Studies and History to GCSE level and Critical Thinking to AS level.
Before teaching in mainstream education, I worked one to one with a pupil with Autistic Spectrum Disorderin a school for pupils with severe learning disabilities in Belfast this experience has taught me much about finding approaches to learning which are both personalised and engaging.
Tutoring Approach:
I see each child as an individual and as such their learning needs will also be unique. I enjoy giving pupils confidence in what they can do already but pushing them on to achieve their very best. I offer a variety of teaching strategies over a range of subjects to aid the learning of pupils at whatever level is required.
