Personal Description:

I am a passionate linguist who has lived and worked for a number of years in education and research in Europe and the Americas. I am a trained teacher with extensive experience both in the classroom and as a tutor. I have a friendly, approachable manner and recognise the need to build confidence in language learners to maximise their success. I have undertaken postgraduate research and have a critical eye and attention to detail which have been put to excellent use through work as a copy-editor in the publishing industry. My experience of living and working in France, Spain and the Americas has given me an insight into the cultures and ways of life of the target language countries. I bring this to my students to instill in them an interest and love of language learning which will set them up for life.

Teaching Experience:

I am a qualified teacher of French and Spanish with 2 years experience in the secondary classroom and 5 years experience tutoring and teaching abroad. I have taught English as a foreign language and tutored for a number of years in the USA, Central and South America and Sri Lanka. I am fully up to date with current National Curriculum and examination requirements. I am a passionate linguist with the experience and energy required to prepare students to face school and exams with confidence.

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to fit in with the needs of my tutees and tailor my resources and focus appropriately. It is essential to address the individual requirements of each student. This will be done through an initial meeting to ascertain targets which will then be followed up in the subsequent teaching sessions. I make tutoring sessions fun and dynamic since this brings out the best in students, enhancing their learning but never losing site of the end goal.
