Personal Description:

I hold a BSc.(Hons) in Psychology, a MA in Psychoanalytic Studies and a PGCE in Post Compulsory Education and Training.

Teaching Experience:

I have 7 years experience of teaching, tutoring and co-ordinating a range of Psychology courses including GCSE, AS and A2 level courses. Furthermore I have experience of tutoring students in degree courses for the Open University and GCSE distance learning courses for Oxford Open Learning. I have extensive experience in examining for various awarding bodies, for example I am a team leader of examiners for the OCR examination board and a moderator for the AQA board. I have co-written the Cambridge Pre-U Psychology specification for the CIE board and I am currently acting as a Principal Examiner.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I carefully and thoroughly plan to meet the needs of all students. I have clear aims and objectives that are shared with students and parents when necessary and include a variety of teaching styles to accommodate all learners. I always give constructive feedback to show pupils how to improve their work as well as highlight their strengths. I am enthusiastic about my subject and motivate students. I have a flexible approach and adapt according to the needs of the group and the lesson taught. I am nurturing, patient, organised, have a good sense of humor, high expectations and respect for students' abilities. My students' success in achieving results above the national benchmarks demonstrates that my teaching is of a high quality. I always strive to develop the competence and confidence of every learner by actively engaging and stretching them while at the same time enabling them to understand themselves better as learners and so take greater control of and responsibility for their learning.
