Information About Aurélie:

Personal Description:

I am a native French speaker (from France).
After studying English for two years at the University of Lyon 2, I decided to move to Montreal to study Translation. I really enjoyed this bilingual city and my life there but after graduating, I moved back to Europe because I really wanted to live in the UK and experience the British culture. So after working for a year, I am currently living in Leeds, doing an MA in audiovisual translation at the University of Leeds and starting my career as a freelance subtitler/translator.
I love arts especially music and cinema; I have played the saxophone for 13 years and I like to subtitle movies from English to French.
I am also thinking about doing distance learning courses in order to have a qualification to teach French as a Foreign Language.

Teaching Experience:

When I was living in Lyon, I used to give private English lessons to several teenagers and adults.
In Montreal and in Leeds, I taught French to several English speakers and also took part in English/French conversation classes.

I used to be a Music Conductor for a Junior Orchestra so I am also quite used to working with children.

Tutoring Approach:

I think the most important thing is to make the lesson interesting for both of us.
Especially with children, I like to teach French in a fun way, through songs, movies or cartoons and telling stories. But I also think that grammar is really an important point in the French language and you have to learn it to understand the basis of French.
Depending on what you want, I am ready to teach you the French language and the French culture through exercises, conversation and the best of my knowledge!
