Natalia - Cambridge tutor
Information About Natalia:
Personal Description:
I am a Russian PhD student in Social Anthropology, with a first degree in teaching History (Russian PGCE equivalent). I have recently moved to Cambridge with my husband who started a job in the University here. I am very happy to teach my native language, as well as German, which I speak fluently, because I love to absorb myself into other languages.
Teaching Experience:
I have taught as a private tutor in Germany for one year (2006-2007). The tutees were several individuals who wanted to brush up their Russian for various reasons: e.g. graduates wanting to get into the German Diplomatic Service, engineers getting a job in joint ventured oil-field explorations.
Currently I run my private classes in Cambridge for a business client who expanded it's services to Russia. Their goal is to enable their employees to make a good impression by knowing the language when dealing and negotiating with Russian clients. As the classes are a huge success, I am looking to widen my teaching activities in Cambridgeshire.
Tutoring Approach:
I adapt to the required level of level of language teaching by assessing your experience first, to make sure you will get the most out of our classes. You can also determine what rate of learning you prefer. Complete beginners will start learning Russian with the cyrillic alphabet and will soon be able to read essential information (street names, tube stations) when travelling to Russia. For German learners we will start directly with the next step: introducing oneself to a native speaker and expressing thoughts/wishes follow in the program.
Thus you will be able to communicate effectively from the first few lessons on.
For the beginners classes, we will work with the book "Okno" (publisher: Klett Verlag).
More advanced learners can determine their own emphasis between the main components of language: Grammar, Phonetics, Reading and Speaking. As the student becomes more advanced they should have an idea of what skills are most important to him, e.g. we could read the russian world classics in literature, discuss news and politcs from the "Russian world" or try harder in getting the pronounciation just perfect!
