Nidha - Ilford tutor
Information About Nidha:
Personal Description:
I was inspired to teach by my own experience at school, particularly by my primary school teacher. She was passionate about teaching and as a result her students were enthusiastic learners. I find teaching fun and incredibly rewarding; this is why I seek the opportunity to teach whenever I can. For the past three years, I have worked voluntarily as a Classroom Assistant on a weekly basis. I have found that empathy and tolerance of children is something that comes naturally to me. The primary aged children that I teach regularly write up essays and carry out presentations in groups in front of the rest of the children, based on the information that I convey to them. This has increased their confidence and their English writing skills. For the past three summers I have worked as a teacher, teaching English, Maths and Science in a Tuition Centre, for bilingual children. I found that being bilingual myself, I was able to relate and cater to the specific needs of bilingual children and their parents. I helped manage the school and organised a successful end of Summer School Parents' Day Program where children demonstrated to an audience of parents what they learnt over the summer
Teaching Experience:
I have completed a Primary PGCE and have worked in a school as a classroom teacher for 5 school terms (1 1/2 years). My teaching profession however started in January 2007 where I took a position as a year 5 classroom teacher. This has given me the opportunity to put to practice all the skills and knowledge gained from my experiences. The school I worked in met all the requirements for teachers who are skilled in educating children in the multicultural, multilingual urban environment of East London. This is because equal opportunities, working with bilingual learners and children with special educational needs underpin all curriculum settings.
My degree, work experience, teaching placements and first job have proved to be worthwhile experiences and have confirmed my desire to teach. Watching children learn and progress is incredibly rewarding. I have also found that in many instances teachers are also the learners, as students can often teach them valuable lessons.
Tutoring Approach:
i find that a one on basis as tutoring can provide the child to apply what he/she has learnt in school. also it will help those children who can not learn or understand in a group setting and will give them the boost they need to up their grades. i also do not mind group tutoring as this approach has many benefits, one being peer learning. tuition in general helps the child to practice and apply the various skills needed in maths, english and science.
