Victoria - Southampton tutor

Information About Victoria:

Personal Description:

As a mature student I successfully studied toward, and gained a degree in English Law LLB (2:1) in 2005 and continue to take a keen interest in current legal issues. I maintain a good working knowledge of health care, criminal, evidence and procedure and constitutional law through my current positions as a JP, a panellist for the General Medical Council, and as an Independent Member of the Standards Committee for Eastleigh Borough Council.

Teaching Experience:

As a part time law lecturer, I independently delivered high quality course materials and lectures on relevant first year legal subjects including, criminal, legal method, property I and constitutional law. I also have experience as an academic support worker enabling a diverse range of students to overcome the difficulties they experienced while studying at degree level, because of their disability. I facilitated the experience of learning so that the student could produce work that reflected their own ideas, aspirations and capabilities and in turn fulfil their true potential at university level. I drew on my own recent academic experience and awareness of disability issues, offering an insight into the tensions involved in meeting course work deadlines and examination preparation.

Tutoring Approach:

I would prefer to support students who are already studying with an institution, be it the local university or distance learning with the OU for example. My approach is very much student centred and I would expect to discuss with the student some aims and objectives for the period of study. I am flexible and able to offer on line as well as face to face tutoring.
