Jo - Wirral tutor

Information About Jo:

Personal Description:

I am a qualified teacher with 7 years' experience; both as a teacher and a personal tutor. I am qualified to teach all national curriculum subjects and all primary age groups.
I have a calm and understanding approach to educating children, believing greatly in the value of positive reinforcement. My aim is to provide my students with the skills and knowledge to continue their learning journey with greater independence.

Teaching Experience:

I have experience of working with children aged from 4 to 15 years old. I have taught widely in schools in this country and Australia; taught English as a foreign language within mainland Europe and have successfully tutored children of various ages. I am able to teach all aspects of the primary national curriculum; in particular I support reading, writing and numeracy tuition, as well as 11+ tuition.

Tutoring Approach:

I have a varied approach to teaching; the style and manner of delivery is adapted to suit your child and I revisit my sessions plans to ensure that that the content is adapted to suit their individual needs and that maximum progress is made.
I aim to combine interactive and engaging sessions with more traditional written and independent work which allows children to enjoy the work we do together, yet see the value in their own contribution. I generally provide work to be completed outside of our sessions, to help with consolidation of new learning and also as a means of assessment.
The children I have tutored have had great success and many families choose to continue tuition for a year or more.
