Melina - Newcastle upon Tyne tutor

Information About Melina:

Personal Description:

Bonjour! I am a young and enthusiastic French teacher currently teaching in secondary schools in the Newcastle area. I love languages and really enjoy teaching them to a wide range of people and abilities. My passions are traveling, photography and good food, especially recipes from my native region of Provence. I have high expectations of all my students, as a classroom teacher and a tutor, working with them to the very best of their ability.

Teaching Experience:

I started out as a French assistant then began teaching modern languages in secondary schools in 2006. I have taught French from primary to A2 level including the new GCSE in Leisure and Tourism. I studied German both at university and in Germany and I have taught German to GCSE level. As a languages teacher, I am also comfortable teaching Spanish to KS3. Although I have mainly used the AQA specification, I am comfortable with the specifications of other examination boards.

Tutoring Approach:

I love learning languages and I know how frustrating it can be at times. As a tutor and a teacher, I am patient and always willing to go over aspects of the language until they are understood. I am a strong believer in getting the basics right before anything else. I like to use ICT and authentic materials in language teaching to make it interesting and fun. I can help with homework and exam revision or support the learning done in class. I can also provide help to anyone starting or just wanting to give it a go.
