Information About Victoria:


Personal Description:

I am 25 years old and have recently moved to York to start part-time postgraduate study in English literature. I really enjoy teaching and working with young people, and I believe I'm a good motivator as well as an organised, efficient educator.



Teaching Experience:

I have spent the last 3 years teaching EFL in a public senior high school in Japan with the JET Programme. I also taught EFL in a Chinese high school for six months.

As an undergraduate student I volunteered at a homework club for local secondary school students, and in my vacation time I was employed as a group leader for a drama workshop company, typically leading a group of a dozen teenagers at a time.



Tutoring Approach:

In our first tutorial I'd like to familiarise myself with the work you are being set at school/uni etc. and see some examples of your writing. We'll also talk about what your weak/strong areas are and discuss what you need to work on. By the second tutorial I will have made an outline plan of how we'll study together. I'll cover not only the content required for any exams you are sitting, but also exam techniques and essay writing techniques. I'm confident that as I get to know you I'll be able to tailor my approach and materials to suit your individual learning style and your personality. My aim is for you to enjoy studying and to get top results!

Qualifications:

  • BA (first class with honours) in English Language and Literature
  • Working towards MA in Modern and Contemporary Literature and Culture
