Francesca - Swindon tutor
Information About Francesca:
Personal Description:
I have graduated from univeristy but am returning for the 2009/2010 academic year to do a PGCE is secondary education, I will be teaching GCSE English, Citizenship and Religious Education and A Level Psychology and Sociology. I currently work in a local secondary school sepcialising in children with additional educational needs. I am very familiar with the new policies schools have brought in, and have a fresh approach to dealing with exam stress and coping with workloads as having only recently completed my own studies. I am a very friendly, confident and conscientious person and am a firm believer in individuals doing their best and not feel pressured by too many expectations. I think it is very important to enjoy what you are learning otherwise it is very easy to get bored. I therefore endeavor to help those from a young age up to degree level to achieve what they can to the best of their ability.
Teaching Experience:
My main teaching exeperience comes from working in a local secondary school with children with additional education needs. I work primarily on a 1-1 basis on in very small groups with differentiated work for differing abilities. At the school I support in English, Maths and Science up to GCSE level. I have a vast range of teaching experience ranging from listening to reception aged children read to helping peers with research. I have a great deal of classroom experience as a student and now want to help others and gain the experience I need for my PGCE.
Tutoring Approach:
I feel it is very important not to try and do too much at once, I encourage regular breaks and distractions to help refocus the mind. I have a lot of knowledge about the psychology of learning and different learning methods. I like to see what type of learner the student is, for example using a dictaphone to record important information, and mind maps to make connections between different subjects. As a former student I understand that some areas of learning can be very dull, by talking through the subject and encouraging a subjective interpretation guides the student to focus on their own ideas, and this I feel encourages a sense of achievement.
