Emma - Birmingham tutor

Information About Emma:

Personal Description:

I am an enthusiastic and personable individual who is well qualified in the discipline of Theology and Religious Education ( I received my PhD in Theology and Religion from the University of Birmingham in 2004). I also possess a talent for and love of English.

Teaching Experience:

I have taught Religious Studies in a range of different schools, including a boys' grammar school, a mixed comprehensive and a girls' school. I have taught from Year 7 right through to GCSE and A level, and in each school I have taught different subjects, ranging from Biblical Studies, World Religions and Philosophy and Ethics. I have also lectured at University during my time as a PhD student and have worked for another University as a distance learning tutor, in which I tutored mature students, giving them guidance and feedback about their essays. Before I became a qualified secondary school teacher, I home tutored a boy who had encountered some difficulty with his GCSE English - he was eventually awarded a Grade A in his GCSE examination. I have also had experience of marking AS level papers as I have worked for the AQA examination board.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a supportive and flexible approach to tutoring, and I am keen to focus on specific areas in order to help the student achieve their full potential. I aim to be positive and to help students identify their strengths as well as areas for development.
