David - Rayleigh tutor

Information About David:

Personal Description:

Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I'm David, 26 years old, from Rayleigh. I consider myself to be easy to get along with and enjoy my free time, during which I play football, play music and write.

Academically I obtained 10 A* and 2 A grades at GCSE and four A grades for my A-levels (biology, chemistry, physics and general studies). I read for my first degree at Nottingham University in the subject of Genetics. I achieved the highest mark in my year during the final examinations and also obtained several awards for outstanding academic achievement. During study for this degree I also spent time conducting genetic research at Oxford University. Most recently, I completed my PhD in Molecular Biology at Great Ormond Street Hospital at University College London. During this time I presented my findings at conferences in the UK, USA and Japan and published papers in prestigious scientific journals.

Teaching Experience:

During my undergraduate degree I was involved in tutoring A-level biology students and hosting undergraduate laboratory sessions. Privately, I have tutored students for two years and have helped several to jump as much as two grades at A-level (recommendations available upon request). Currently I am pursuing qualified teacher status (QTS) at a grammar school.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always been highly motivated in study and have developed revision methods that I still find useful and like to pass on to others. My tuition style would be flexible according to the pupil's needs. Areas requiring special attention would be identified and a work plan arranged to give the pupil a good idea of the expectations that the exam board (and I!) expect. I aim to help the pupil obtain the best mark possible and am always happy to spend time outside of tutoring sessions to organise and correct our work.
