Jenny - Southport tutor
Information About Jenny:
Personal Description:
I am a patient person who understands that children require plenty of reassurance and guidance to help them to reach their potential. I enjoy teaching all subjects and try to make learning as interesting and as fun as possible. I see myself more as a facilitator for learning rather than the children relying on me to lead all of the time. I find that this really encourages children to investigate, enquire and to gain a thirst for knowledge even at a very young age. I teach new concepts through practical experiences to gain interest and then move on to developing knowledge and understanding.
Teaching Experience:
I am thoroughly enjoying my second year as a year 1 primary school classroom teacher in Preston. I have previously studied at St. Martin's University in Lancaster and Edgehill University in Ormskirk. During my teacher training and also through supply work, I have taught every year group across key stage 1 and 2 and also in reception as part of the 'transition adjustment' stage in our school. I have experience of teaching children with learning needs such as ADHD, autism, speech and mild behavioural difficulties. I have plenty of resources available for use during lessons and also advice on good quality interactive resources for general use.
Tutoring Approach:
I approach tutoring as I approach everyday classroom teaching; I strive to provide high quality learning experiences tailored to every individual child's needs. I feel it is important to engage in firsthand experiences wherever possible and that children should be involved in deciding learning outcomes and how to achieve them. Good quality feedback is crucial and children need to understand their strengths as well as their areas for development in order to progress and become a successful independent learner.
