Personal Description:

I am a young, enthusiastic Scientist and have a huge interest in the world around us, especially in the natural world and astronomy. I am a qualified Secondary Science teacher with a specialism in Biology, but have also taught primary Science for the past 3 years. I love to take Science to it's most simple form so that seemingly difficult ideas such as molecules, electricity and forces become clear.



Teaching Experience:

I have been teaching for the last 3 years since finishing university in a strongly academic school. I have enjoyed helping children with special educational needs as well as pushing those who need extending. I have coordinated primary Science and fully prepared and given confidence to year 6 pupils for their Science SATs exams. I have taught all three Sciences up to GCSE level and have taught Biology up to GSCE and A level. I have access to many teaching resources including past papers and practise questions.



Tutoring Approach:

Science is often seen as difficult to understand and unimaginative, however I make great efforts to make it manageable, interesting and clear. I take pride in developing effective exam technique in pupils, by first checking for gaps and weaknesses in their understanding, then covering those areas in fun, interactive ways and finally checking and reiterating their learning by going through exam style questions. Highlighting common misconceptions and using memory aids, computer animations and games are methods I employ to aid learning. In this way knowledge can be stored ready to be applied fully and correctly.
