Sarah - Rainham tutor
Information About Sarah:
Personal Description:
I have been teaching English in an outer-London secondary school for 4 years and have management responsibilities within the department. My main role is to share good practise amongst other teachers and demonstrate how to inspire young people and think outside of the box. I have an excellent relationship with those whom I teach and this is the first step to ensuring that they are successful. I am available to help with homework, coursework or to help develop reading and writing skills in preparation for the SAT and GCSE examinations. I am extremely flexible and although tutoring is a 'job', my primary objective is to help your child reach their full potential.
Teaching Experience:
4 years in an outer-London secondary school teaching English at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. I have run and assisted in summer schools for gifted and talented pupils throughout the past 5 summers. I have also written the programme for 'booster SAT lessons' and hosted these on Saturday mornings at an Essex secondary school.
Tutoring Approach:
Tutoring is not about doing the work for a child in order that they may pass it off as their own. Instead it is about helping them to be more confident in their abilities and making learning enjoyable. Students need to understand explicitly what is expected for them to achieve each grade/level and they need to be encouraged to grade their own work. By doing this they can determine for themselves how they can improve and set personal targets. As a tutor, my role is to guide the pupil, make learning accessible and, where possible, fun.
