Aimee - Birmingham tutor
Information About Aimee:
Personal Description:
Hi! I'm a hard working and friendly college student. I achieved 5As at AS in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Art and am predicted 5As at A2, I will begin studying an MA in Maths at Edinburgh University in September 2009.
As an ambitious student myself, I understand the importance of achieving your best possible grade; the best ways to supplement and aid lessons and homework, and effective exam preparation.
Over three years experience working in retail, hospitality and as part of administrative teams has helped me build excellent communication skills and given me the ability to work confidence and compassion with people of all ages and backgrounds.
Teaching Experience:
Most recently I have tutored GCSE and AS art students who were struggling with the demands of coursework and exam preparation.
In 2008, I mentored under-achieving pupils at a local Secondary School to help them achieve GCSEs in Maths and Science. I have also worked one-on-one with many students through this site and privately.
I've previously been an assistant tutor, working with adults and teenagers studying for their Amateur Radio License.
Tutoring Approach:
In Art, I look to strengthen technical and analytical skills, help students to develop personal responses and styles, and gain the confidence to explore and progress more independently. During sessions I also aim to prepare students to be able to continue the work alone after the session, and to develop lasting artistic skills.
With casual and adult learners, I'm open to help them develop practical fine art skills, and with the study of artists and movements.
For Maths and Sciences, I seek to identify weak areas, improve understanding and confidence of the subject, before applying the knowledge in exam contexts and preparing students for formal examinations and coursework.
I am happy to regularly discuss progress with parents, and to answer a student's questions by email between sessions to boost learning and independence.
