Personal Description:
I am 43 years old with two children aged 14 and 16 years. I have been tutoring students with great success for over 15 years in a range of subjects. I always make sure that students and parents are clear with regards to the syllabus criteria/grade boundaries so that there is no misunderstanding with expected/predicted grades for key exams.
I am very approachable and ensure that students feel comfortable during tutoring. I use a range of resources which includes websites/past paper questions.
Teaching Experience:
I have been teaching since 1992. I have extensive experience of teaching in different types of schools as a mainstream teacher as well as Head of Science. I have worked as a Science Consultant for a local authority working with staff and students. during the last 7years I have been a GCSE exam marker and therefore I am very familiar with the requirements in order to achieve marks in external exams. I am a specialist in the teaching of AQA and the OCR exam boards for Science but I can adapt to teach the EDEXCEL board if required to do so.
Tutoring Approach:
During the last 10 years I have seen how easy it is for young people to get distracted from academic studies due to the vast array of gadgets that they just have to play with. Tuition is about finding that mental block that is preventing learning and understanding from taking place. I try to give concepts and subject knowledge a reality that students can understand by giving analogies and models that they are more familiar with.
