Personal Description:

I have been enjoying teaching English Language and Literature at Secondary Level (up to and including GCSE) for four years at an 'Outstanding' school in the Northwest.
Although, in an ideal world, pupils would gain all of the attention and support they need in the classroom, I do understand the needs of children to gain extra support outside of school and the growing demands that are being placed upon them; especially when approaching their GCSE years.
I have recently moved to Chorley with my wife, hamster and kitten and I enjoy walking, going to the cinema and spending time with family.

Teaching Experience:

I have gained excellent experience in teaching English, Drama and some ICT at secondary level both Key Stages 3 and 4 and some brief experience teaching at Primary Level (supply).
I have an excellent track record of pupils' achievements after they have sat their GCSEs.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach to tutoring is to help guide the tutee through elements of the subject that might appear confusing or need further development.
When in a classroom it is often difficult to ensure that everything is covered in enough detail therefore extra tutoring gives opportunities to delve deeper into the subject.
Tutoring sessions will be primarily very much tutee led, focusing on what they personally feel they need more help in - giving me the chance to design a tailored learning programme in order to achieve potential.

Qualifications:

• PGCE Secondary English with Drama and Media Studies
• BA (Hons) English Literature and Theatre Studies
• A2 Level English Literature, Theatre studies, Psychology
• AS Level English Language
