Gareth - Leicester tutor
Information About Gareth:
Personal Description:
I am a relaxed teacher, currently based in leicester. I work hard but also find it crucial to find the time to relax with friends and family. This would be something I would be looking to emphasis to my students, as outlined below. I am a keen sportsman, participating in rugby and I have started (currently) marathon running. I am therefore competitive, yet strategic. I combine my desires for rugby and teaching by being a rugby coach.
Teaching Experience:
I have recently completed my initial teacher training with success. I trained at Montsaye Community college in Rothwell and Ashby School, Ashby de la Zouch, whilst studying at the University of leicester. I have passed my course with masters credits (certificates will shortly be available if you wish to seen them). Although I am fairly new to teaching, my training years and plentiful amounts of previous teaching experiences have taught me a great deal. As I said above, I work hard to achieve my desired goals.
I specialise in Biology post 16 and science in key stage 3 and 4. However, if desired, I am also able to tutor in Geography. I would be looking, as I do for my school pupils, to make the sciences enjoyable and make my time with my students efficient.
My CRB check certificate is available should you wish to see it.
Tutoring Approach:
I have had plentiful experience of tutoring outside of school. As I have said above, and as my experience has been in, I am able to tutor in the three main sciences and geography. My approach to tutor is that I aim to make my sessions productive yet enjoyable. I aim to build my students academically and personally. In an academic sense, I aim to optimise students independence in their work, creating an ability for students to show independent thinking skills in order for them to succeed. Personally, I look for students to take ownership and pride in their work and to appreciate that heard work will pay off. I also make sure students enjoy the work they are doing and the way they are doing it. I do this by questionning students (in a professional manner) about who they are and what they enjoy, plus if they found a particular activity during tutoring a success.
I will tutor at home or travel to the house if the tutee felt more relaxed there.
