Information About Vlad:
Personal Description:
Thank you for looking at my profile!
I am experienced tutor with a first-class degree in International Relations and English Language and an MA in Translation Studies (French and Russian). I am currently pursuing a PhD at Aston University.
I have worked as a study skills mentor for over five years, teaching academic writing, study skills and English for business and engineering. In addition, I have worked in a number of marketing-related positions. Therefore, I am familiar with both academic and professional writing. I have also written a book on essay writing which was a Number One best-seller in Amazon's College and University category.
I would be very happy to share my skills with all my students and I promise you that you'll get great quality personalised one-to-one tuition for a moderate price!
Teaching Experience:
I started tutoring in 2005, when I began to teach English as foreign language to secondary school students in Lithuania. I helped them improve their English in order to pass tests more successfully.
When I was at university, I worked as an academic writing mentor for three years, teaching academic writing and revision skills to students from a range of academic and cultural backgrounds. Later, I joined The Lecture Room's team and started teaching academic writing to large groups during public lectures, seminars and webinars. I have got a wealth of experience in both face-to-face and online tutoring. Currently, I am a CELTA qualified teacher, the author Number One Amazon best-seller in the College and University category and a teacher of English for business and engineering.
Here is a breakdown of my work experience:
2007 - 2009
2009 - 2010
2010 - 2011
2012 -
Tutoring Approach:
I take an individual approach to tutoring, taking into account every new tutee's interests and aspirations. Before I start tutoring sessions, I spend 20-30 minutes with a student discussing their learning goals and learning needs.
These 30 minutes are FREE. The purpose of that time slot is to establish a teacher-student relationship and to find common ground more easily. Therefore, if you do book a one-hour slot, you get 90 minutes the first time for the price of one hour.
