Personal Description:
I have a BA (Hons) Archaeology degree and PGCE. I originally trained to be a primary school teacher but have mostly worked in High Schools. I currently teach GCSE History at an Orthodox Jewish Girl's High School.
I am able to teach primary boys and girls and I am only able to teach girls at High School level for religious reasons.
I am also able to teach English and literacy.
Teaching Experience:
I qualified to teach in 2003 at Manchester Metropolitan University. I have taught primary, English, Literacy (Key Stage 3) and History (Key Stages 3 and 4).
Tutoring Approach:
My approach to tutoring is to make the lesson material interesting, for example using PowerPoint presentations and relevant DVD film. I like to make the material as accessible as possible for the learner and instill confidence in their abilities.
History is fun and interesting and involves using analytical skills. First we learn the material and then practice exam questions and build upon the learner's knowledge. This enables the learner to progress and achieve good exam results. My lessons are visual and discursive, we analyse historical sources and look at different sides of arguments to gain a balanced understanding of history.
