Personal Description:

I am currently employed as a Psychology Research Fellow by the University of Southampton, but I'm currently based in Manchester. I lived and worked abroad for many years and have travelled extensively. Teaching English as a foreign language is a very student centred approach to teaching and learning, and is something I have carried over successfully into teaching other subjects.

Teaching Experience:

I have seven years experience of teaching English as a foreign language, teaching adults, teenagers and children from the age of four. I taught four semesters at a university in Bogota, Colombia, which included not only English language classes, but also classes in English on other topics, including psychology and British history and culture. I am a motivated, and interested teacher. I enjoy sharing knowledge and seeing students develop. I successfully prepared many students for entrance exams to English speaking universities throughout my career as an English teacher. My experience includes teaching groups and one on one classes. In addition I was an oral and written examiner for various Cambridge exams including IELTS. I was also a teacher trainer for an online course for non-native English teachers.

Tutoring Approach:

I have always enjoyed teaching and feel that one on one tutoring can be exceptionally beneficial to a student. It allows the student to feel comfortable and to learn at their own pace, while at the same time allowing the tutor to tailor the sessions specifically to the individual student, taking into account their particular strengths and weaknesses.
