Alex - Leeds tutor
Information About Alex:
Personal Description:
Hello! My name is Alex.
I have a doctorate in English Literature from Queen's University Belfast, and am an experienced tutor at postgraduate, undergraduate, A-level, and GCSE. I have a relaxed and friendly approach, and believe that a student must enjoy the subject to achieve good results.
As a Student Support worker at QUB since 2009, I have had plenty of opportunity to develop my one-to-one tuition skills. In this role I work with undergraduate students on time- and stress-management, exam and essay writing technique, and confidence-building, among other things - all of which I can bring in to our tuition sessions.
Teaching Experience:
2008-present: UK Tutors, GCSE and A-level.
2006-2017, QUB: 'Victorianism to Modernism', 2nd year undergraduate module in literature.

2009: 'English in Transition', 1st year undergraduate module in literature.
2009: 'Introduction to American Writing', 2nd year undergraduate module in literature.
2011: 'British Poetry 1880-1990', MA module in literature.
2013: 'American Literature 1945-1960', 3rd year undergradaute module.
Tutoring Approach:
I am extremely passionate about literature and its role in improving literacy and students' critical skills, believing that it should be taught in a genial, friendly, interactive atmosphere in order to engender a genuine passion for the subject and to achieve the best results. My tutees have clear learning targets and access to a range of textbooks, casebooks and other learning materials provided by me.
