Personal Description:

I am currently teaching Mandarin in South Devon College. I studied in Taiwan and China so am able to speak and write traditional and simplified Chinese (the former is used in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Singapore.) After gaining a MA from Department of Modern Language of University of Bath I started teaching Mandarin in Bristol, Bath, Swindon, and Plymouth.

I have been teaching for more than 7 years. My previous job was in University of Washington, Seattle, USA. There I taught college students Mandarin on the beginner's and intermediate level. Now I am teaching adults business and conversational Mandarin in Language Centre, South Devon College. I also have tutoring children and high school students.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to use powerpoint and video in class in addition to writing everything on the whiteboard. Understanding the background of the Chinese and East Asia Culture is the key to mastering this language. Movies, music, documentary, commercials, TV shows, etc are provided to gain the "Real Chinese experience" without going abroad. Each session contains 10 classes, which you can decided how long to accomplish, and each class has different theme. I teach new vocabulary and conversation under different themes so students can learn the culture while they improve their language skills.
