Personal Description:
I'm a qualified teacher with five year's experience teaching in primary and secondary state schools in London. I graduated with a degree in French and English in 1996 and then spent time living in Rome and Vietnam teaching English as a Foreign Language in International schools and universities. I then decided to come back to the UK train as a school teacher.
Teaching Experience:
I am qualified to teach both Key Stage 2 and 3. I spent four years teaching in a primary school in London and now teach Key Stage 3 in a secondary school. My specialism at Key Stage 3 is English. I also have 10 years previous experience teaching English as a foreign language abroad.
Tutoring Approach:
My style is to take an approach that allows the student to feel at ease. For me this means creating an environment that feels safe and friendly and one in which the child is not afraid to speak out. I like a learning environment that is student centred, with activities that suit their individual learning style. I like to assess their weaknesses and strengths and to find interesting and stimulating ways of working on the weak areas and building on the strengths. I also believe in strong consolidation of what the child has learned already.
