I have taught children of all abilities including those who need extra help, those with specific difficulties such as dyslexia and able children. I have also been involved with KS 2 Sats and KS1 Sats.
I have also taught basic skills to adults who need an extra boost, or those who have English as an additional language

I have taught in many schools as a supply teacher across many age ranges and have also taught as a dedicated teacher with a class of my own for a number of years.

Tutoring Approach:

Having had 6 years of experience tutoring, I have developed my tutoring styles to suit the needs of a variety of children and their own particular learning styles and needs. I have a particular belief that all children have their own unique way of learning and it is important that the tutoring style reflects this in order to allow the children's learning to add value. Tutoring in my experience is the most effective when both the tutee and tutor are comfortable in their roles and have a good understanding and bond. This in turn allows the child to relax and access the curriculum more fully. This bond helps the children relax and therefore access the curriculum more fully. I try to use a variety of resources when tutoring to keep the children engaged and interested therefore promoting learning. Some of which include ICT, Speaking and listening, more traditional pencil and paper methods and many more. This obviously depends on the child's needs, subject taught and parents needs.
I find tutoring is a complimentary aid which allows children to advance on a greater level in their classroom environment.
